would you have bought a MSP with 125 miles?

I bought my SO MSP 3 weeks ago with 125 miles in the odometer. I asked my sales guy why it had so many miles and he saud because it was in the lot for a long time and many people test driving it. I bought my car for $17,000 so I did not argue to much and the only other MSP was yellow and I did not want yellow so I bought the SO w/ 125 miles.
Well, a couple of days ago I found a paper in the globe box that my car was loaned to someone overnight and ths person put 35 miles on the car. I was furious because noone told me that!! I called the dealer this morning and bitched and they said it was someone that was allowed to take the car home overnight to show his wife and think about it. I wished they would have told me that. This might not seem a big deal to somepeople, but IT IS to ME!! This car could have taken the car to the drag strip or poured sand in the gas tank or switch the speakers or who know what else. Should I forget about or should I try to have the dealer do something about it.

Also, when I bought y car y floor mat were switched with regular Protege floor mat and noone told me!!! I later found out I was supposed to have "Mazdaspeed" floor mats so I went to the dealer and bitched and they said they took the floor mats out because someone that bought a P5 wanted Mazdaspeed floor mats and they "forgot" to replace them with the correct floor mats. Finally, a few days ago I picked up my mazdaspeed floor mats.

Well I see it this way. When car is loaned out to someone the dealership has to let the buyer know. I know this because I used to be in sales at a dealership. The problem is that the car was never owned by anyone so I'm not sure if the above still holds water. It is very rare that someone is allowed to borrow a car for a night and then return it. Especiall a car like the MSP because it is a rare car and most owners would have a problem with high miles. I know I would. I would try and see if you can get something out of the dealership. If you complain loud enough you should get some freebies. That probably won't satify most people but hopefully itll ease the anger a little bit. :D

yes, money talks so maybe I'll get something free, but the car already has it all!! What can I ask for?
I am checking the speakers and other things to make sure thay are the correct ones. Damn I am so pissed!!!

Someone I know bought a used Integra Type R from the dealer and later found out that the car had the wrong cams, ECU and other things. They were from an Integra GS-R, not Type R!!!

Mine had about 125 miles on it when I got it. You didn't buy yours from Town North in Richardson did you? I was told it had that many miles on it cause it was driven there from another town it get it there on time. Appartenly I would have had to wait longer to have it shipped by flatbed (prob a load of BS)

Anyway, my car now has over 8,000 miles on it with no problems. I've only experienced the hesitation twice, but other than that it's been a dream to own. I also wasn't as careful as most other were in the break-in period, although I almost ALWAYS let it cool down for one full air cycle before shutting off and have since maintained the regular scheduled maintenace.

In short I wouldn't worry too much. Besides that's what warrenties are for right?

Sorry to hear that, i'd definately be upset too. Id call corporate mazda, and file a complaint with them. You were mislead when purchasing the car, and the dealership, and sales manager should be held accountable. Its possible it was an oversight, or the salesmen simply didnt know, but you should have been made aware, and the mistake could not have been made.

If only 35 miles were on the car, then i doubt it was tracked or abused. Checking the speakers would be a decent idea, but i doubt anything was changed.

Good luck, and keep up updated on what you get from Mazda USA.

I bought an early 2002 P5 this March 2003 (never titled) from the dealer it had 300 miles but it was $2,000.00 less then a comparable 2003. $14,000 It is under warranty so I see no problems with buying a car with miles on it if you got it less then what one with less then say 50 miles. Just my opinion

KyRaceFan is right, I would call up mazdausa and file a complaint too.

Damn thats scary. I bought the test drive vehicle from my dealership because it was their last yellow. I had about 105 miles on it or so but I didnt worry too much. They took a little money off and extended the warranty that 100 or so miles. Its a little scarier with a turbo car thought because the guy could have driven it hard for a long time then just turn it off without letting it cool down. I would b**** at the dealership if your not satisfied, definatly dont let it slide.

Like TX Speed Demon said, where did you buy from. I assume it wasnt Big Billy Barret like I did because they are now out of business.

Any car with more than 25 miles on it is a "demo" in my mind. It should be priced as such.

First thing to do is contact Mazda USA and let them know that dealership is doing that. Then make sure the dealer knows you have contacted Mazda. At the VERY least, get an extension on the warranty, and/or some free service. You can be pretty sure that people drove that car HARD.

my car had 125 on it when I bought it as well.. after I bought it, I took it to my mazda friends house.. they were like,, "thats the one I test drove"... I was pissed.. but oh well, I have no problems with it.. it drives like a champ...

I just got off the phone with the Sales Director and bitched him out real good. I told him I wold call Mazda and give them a bad survey. He said he would do anything to make me happy. I said I want a car with zero miles. He said that was unrealistic. He said he was willing to give me a lifetime of free oil changes and $200 voucher from parts. I aid I would sleep on it and call him tomorrow.

Did I mention that we I called the dealership I wanted a Titanium and they said they had one so I rushed over to the dealership only to find out that they lied to me? Yes, they did that also!!! Is that a sales tactic?

It's very often than stealership lie to you to get your money.

My car was a demo with like 30 or 40 miles on it. No big deal really. I got a good price on it though....call and b**** to them.

Do you really want those crappy oil changes? You are better off with going synthetic.

You do have a right to be pissed 03SOMSP. However, I'd say the dealer did a decent job trying to make it up to you with the free lifetime oil changes and $200 parts voucher. I bought my Spicey with almost 250 miles on it "new"!!!

I guess my opinion is you should get something free (like the oil changes for example) but I wouldn't stress over it too much as far as reliability. The simple fact is, "break in" = BS in today's cars. [NOTE - For those that don't agree, don't bother flaming me because I don't care if you agree or not]

If I was you, I'd make some noise by bitching about it just to see what you can get for free - and then regardless of what you get or don't get, don't stress over it too much because chances are very high that your car is none the worse for wear.

i think you people are being ridiculous. if i was a salesperson and you called freaking out because it had 125 miles on it and wanted a whole new car i would probably laugh at you. maybe it has 125 miles because people test drove it and then read or heard about how many problems with the MSPs there are...thats why there are NO mazda dealerships around here that are ever going to carry MSP - because of all the problems mazda has told them about.

Hey RazorP5, I see in your info that you are stationed ay Ft.Sill. I was stationed there with my marine detatchment back in '98. Glad to see someone you knows how bad Ft.Sill and Lawton is.

Mine had 69 miles on it. I asked the service writer why it had so many miles, and he said well, we all had to check it out. I used to wrench at dealerships, so I thought, yeah, ok, I can understand that.

I basically agree with you Razor, although 03SOMSP's point is that the salesman was not fully honest with him. But even that is not much to get angry about because I have yet to meet ANY car salesman that is fully honest -- I've litterally had every salesman I've ever talked to tell obvious lies right to my face! What can you do though.......F the stealerships, that's all I got to say.

kenetix, i feel sorry for you that you had to experience that s*** hole...are you still in the corps?

yea, most salespeople BS, i was one i should know. mine was actually pretty honest, but then again, the first thing i said to him was before i joined the army i was a carsalesman, so lets not say anything ridiculous :-)
