Would you buy another Protege?

I am lookning over finances and thinking about taking advantage of getting another Protege. With the incentives and 0%, which I can qualify for I was debating about picking up a P5 or regular sedan for everyday/winter driving while I have the MP3 disassembled as it is most of the time. Between up coming turbo and especialy STEREO improvements I will be in need of a 2nd mode of transportation.

Any thoughts?

I hear ya about the normal state of being disassembled, I think mine spends most of its time up on jack stands!

I guess I would vote for the P5 if it was between that and the sedan. Better ability to carry "big" stuff and I hate to say it, but I think it looks better (at least it is the same front end). Besides you can get it in laser blue now too!

The MP3 is blue and I would feel like a knob having to cars that look almost identical.

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you pay for the 6s I wouldn't mind one but at $20K to start its a bit steep.

i'd get a p5. Really if i was to buy another vehicle it would probally be a 4x4 s10

Yes I would get another Protege or mazda for that matter. I have had no problems with my car, besides the clunk. I would consider a P5, MSP, RX8 or even the 6. All would be stick, and leather seats would be nice.

Too much actually. . .I bought one that was pretty much loaded. Had to finance $24,000 or so, so I guess I got a few thousand off ($1000 in loyalty, $250 for using Mazda credit, +discount). I didn't get a great deal, so I haven't really crunched the numbers. Don't much care, I had a very particular 6 that I wanted (Lapis Blue with everything. . ., they eventually found one, but it took some time).

yeah! i would if i had the cash! cheap, reliable cars that look good. I hear ya about a second mode of transportation. The economy is on its way up again! Now is the time to buy!!

id save some $$ and go buy a beater for like 4 or 5k save the rest of the money and put even more in my protege

Economy isn't on it's way up yet. It's just changed from a slow plummet to a light hover. It's slightly affecting my 401k. Fortunately mine is spread out a bit among a few differint funds. The strange thing is that since the market went down. My "safe" funds have been the ones taking the loss, and my "risk" funds have been gaining and covering the loss and then gaining just a little more so that I'm actually doing ok.

I would say that the economy is turning around in some sectors...on the whole it's just not bottomed out anymore, but not moving up grandly either.

Anywho...if you want a new car, p5. Looks nice, and should be a good daily driver. Otherwise, go with what 1338 said, just pick up a cheap-o beater to get you by. With the money you just spent on your place, I'm sure you could use the extra cash.

I got a first quote from a dealer for an '03 LX sedan under $13k. And this was on an email, not even showing up at the dealer, so you know there's still some nice margin there.

Another Protege?

You Bet! But; I'm thinking more of a true (2 door) Sports Car next time around. Possibly an RX-8, or 350Z. What ever is out there in 4 years or so. Hell! I might just hang on to my MAZDASPEED longer than that.

I have decided to NOT get another Protege. I have decided to get a Mazda 6s. Unfortunitly I know myslef and I will TEAR into another protege like a Lion into a gazel within a week of having ot to tweek it up again. I'M A DAMN ADDICT when it comes to these cars.
On a side note, the Turbo MP3, OWNS a Mazda 6s (owned)

Well fate throws 1st MP3 yet another curve ball!
The mazda 6 is out!
There are non available even close to what I want. If theywould give up a Sport package for 0% I would be down but they wanted $23,900 for it and no financing options. Also the only cars left with the value sprot package are the sea mist green ones which are hella UGLY!

So know I am reconsidering again. A black WRX is a consideration as is keeping the MP3 and getting a P5.
