worthless car wax

So I have some time on the weekend, and I decided to finally wax my car. I got sick of how short turtle wax lasted and bought some Meguires (spelling?). It went on easier than turtle wax, and in the first rainstorm, rain was dripping off my car like water off a duck's back. 2 weeks later, next rainstorm. It looks like my car has never once been waxed. WTF.

Is there a car wax that lasts more than a couple weeks?! I'm really peeved.

did u use turt;e wax properly? when i used it on mine, it lasted for a good months and a half, after that dirt took more work to get off, but still lasted pretty long

I think so. I put it on a clean, cool car. Wax on / wax off. Turtle wax definitely lasted longer than this meguires bs.

also, what i do to keep the wax longer is i use wax as u dry, even though it's not wax, it definitly hepls if paste wax was used first

You used the Mcquires LIQUID wax didnt' you? That liquid wax SUCKS. People claim the paste is better but I've never tried it after using the liquid wax and getting the same results you described. I always used to use Rain Dance but I can't find that anywhere anymore. So now I use Rain-X wax and that stuff is pretty good. Go get some.

Yeah, it was the liquid stuff.

I read on epinions.com that Mother's is supposed to be decent.

thanks for the responses.

I use meguires gold class and find it's really smooth. i wax it every month or so, no becuase i have to but because It's routine. I like the shine to it aswell. a mirror finish.

WOW. I have never used anything but Meguires on my car. I love their products. I recenty went from their Gold Class to their NXT stuff and I love it still even more. Its rained like hell here in Florida and she still shines, the water beads up and rolls right off. Havent gotten to wax or wash her in 2 weeks since all the rain we've gotten.
Did you even remove the turtle wax from the car? Ive found that mixing 2 waxes leads to swirls and..well disaster. I spend four hours on my car every weekend that it isn't raining I have never trusted anything but meguires for my stock paint and then the paint job and I have no complaints yet...give it another try.

uhh i dunno but the turtle wax stuff at the lazer wash work awesome. car shines like a mofo. even after couple of months of not cleaning the car, it shines after every wash.

I had Meguires Liquid Gold Class..but recently purchased and used the NXT paste..yummy. I wash my car with Dawn before I use a new wax..it gets rid of the old stuff. (its not as mild as car washes are). Funny thing is I just relised that I used Meguires EVERYTHING to wash my car. Car wash. wax. detailers, tire shine...the works...I should own stock...lol

DONT LISTEN TO THEM!!! "NXT BLOWS HARDCORE IMO."
If you have the extra cash, go buy some Zaino Wax starter kit and that will last a whole lot longer and provides a much nicer finish than NXT. NXT is easy, but smells dead nasty, can't see my own reflection in my paint, nowhere near as smooth as my car, nowhere near as shiny as my car, and still not as easy to wipe off compared to Zaino.

Best part, tape does not stick to my car and neither does bumper stickers.

You're comparing a $10 bottle of wax to about a $90 bottle! lol the zaino better be a better wax of the two for that price! Maybe Sain't isnt worried about the price and would spend whatever on wax but I dont think I could ever spend that much on it though.

i just used that eagle one nano wax stuff about a week ago. looks good so far and we're in the middle of a storm. i'll know tomorrow morning when the sun is out.

make sure that when u use a car wash u don't use the hot wax, especially in the auto washes, that will take ur wax off in no time.

i would suggest you just don't go to any car wash places. that water is usually hard as ****. i opt for a hose & bucket in my front yard - especially for this world-class clear coat we have...

zaino is pretty freakin awesome. i use it on my cars and they look awesome when i finish. definitely a bit pricey though....

The initial prep and application takes a long time (plan to spend all day to do it right), but maintainence is quick and easy.

Initial prep is:
1. Wash car with Dawn to strip off old wax
2. Claybar
3. Wash again with car wash soap
4. Several coats of polish, with the gloss enhancer spray between coats

Maintenence:
Gloss enhancer works great every other day or so..takes less than 5 minutes
Wash the car once a week
Apply another coat of polish every 2-3 weeks

Your car will always shine....Zaino is worth every penny. And even though you pay $90 for the kit, it lasts a long time (over a year)
