Instead of using additional software that may or may not take up resources, get a browser that stops pop-ups.

Crazy Browser

Major Features:

Tabbed Interface:It has the ability to open multiple sites and windows inside a single browser task. Browser tabs may be aligned at the top or the bottom of Crazy Browser and may be displayed on either one or multiple rows.

Full Windows XP Theme support. Cool!

Smart Popup Filter (Smart Popup killer): Cool!
This is the best pop-up killer- it blocks all the annoying popups automatically!

Security: This has full support for P3P privacy policy and zone-based security assignments.

Multimedia Data Loading: Turn loading of multimedia data on/off with just one click.

Multiple Engine Searching: Crazy Browser comes with many preconfigured search engines, but you can extend it to use your own.

Middle mouse button click on links open on new tab. Cool!

Or you could just smack the s*** out of your monitor..sometimes that works.

yeah, listen to the guys.. good advice.....well, don't actually hit the monitor though.

I got this annoying thing with MSN the last few weeks. My messenger come up "Hi, my name is Katie, come see me......." So, I block it, and 30 mins later " Hi, my name is jessica, come see me....." Block that, and sure enough Kaite comes back....every 20-30 mins, and it's DRIVING ME INSANE! I just played with some of the settings....now I gotta wait 30 mins to see if it works....if not, I'll try unwrittenlaw's idea :)

Lol...MSN is pure s****...not s***, s**** (worse than s***)

AGR#7, I thought you were gonna say Words cannot describe how much I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED. Thanks for sparing me nausea.

If Katie and Jessica had any business sense, they'd combine efforts and say, "Come see US at..." I bet they'd get a lot more hits...

I have aol so this may not work for everyone. But as long as you arent networked I don't see why this shouldnt work. And also, this will only get rid of those stupid Grey Screen Messenger Service Pop Ups.. but those piss me off the most anyway... Read and I hope this helps...

Is Your PC Networked With Other Computers?
Disabling this feature of the operating system may break programs that rely on internal networking. Most home users will be unaffected.

More Information

Who Is At Risk?
Anyone who has a connection to the Internet and who is using Windows XP/2000/98/95 with this networking feature installed.

To Disable the Messenger Service Manually:
-- Click on the Start button in the taskbar
-- Open Control Panels
-- Go to "Administrative Tools" (XP users may need to go to "Performance and Maintenance" first, then "Administrative Tools")
-- Double-click on "Services"
-- Scroll down to "Messenger"
-- Double-click on "Messenger"
-- Change the Startup type to "Disabled"
-- Click "Stop" to stop the service

To Re-Enable Manually:
Follow the above steps, but change the Startup type to "Automatic," then click "Apply," then click "Start" under Service Status.

Note:
You must be logged on as an Administrator for the automatic fix to work.

It's worked for me so far... and I've never had any problems... I'm proud to say that I'm Messenger Service Pop Up FREE!!!

or you can go to command prompt and type

net stop messenger

but i think that way, the service will restart itself upon reboot of the system

/me hugs Phoenix on my linux box here :)

Well, to tell you the truth outside of pressing block, I never tried to do anything else to stop em....just to lazy I guess.

But, go under tools-options-privacy and remove the ALL OTHER USERS from the ALLOW list.

So far so good for me. I guess the side effect is that someone that wants to add you will have troubles doing so. I'm guessing ( I'm not a big MSN user) but you'll have to add them 1st?

If that don't work, I'm the lan admin here at work, so there are others way to block this crap
