I changed my thermo and flushed my radiator in my car and for some reason it takes forever to warm up and when it does i cant run the heater or else it cools down too low ( according to the temp guage on the dash ). I have been trying to figure out the problem for a while now and i am running out of idea. I need my heater given I live in Virginia and its been dropping belowing freezing at night and doesnt get about 50. Any ideas???

Too cold of spark plugs maybe? (guess) It's still doing it after you changed the thermo huh? Hmmmmmmm. I'll be interested to know what you come up with on this.

When was the last time you passed DEQ? I'm wondering if the engine is out of tune.

are you using the correct anitfreeze? and are you cutting it with water? you may have a higher rated antifreeze than you need and its not letting the car warm up properly

I did the same thing.

I did the same thing. All it is, is that I topped off my fluid too high for winter. I couldn't warm up after like driving 30 miles in Atlanta winter 30-40 degrees. I just took off my upper hose just below my distributor cap and drained off that amount of fluid that comes out and just re-connected it. Now it runs just perfect and just gets to warm up now. When Summer comes, I am just going to Add some fluid to top off and run cool all summer. Thanks, Hope that helps.
