Wire upgrades a-comin'!

Alright, from the blow-more-money-on-car-audio department, I just ordered these fellas from KnuKonceptz:

  • Krystal Kable Twisted Pair RCA Cable 6M -- may be a little too long at 6M, since my current RCA cables are 5M (Klassic Konnectz) and have plenty of slack. However, I was afraid that 4M cables would be too short (not enough slack).
  • Karma 12AWG Speaker Kable -- 20 ft, should be enough for left and right fronts. Right now, I'm not even sure why I got them, since I already have 20ft of 12awg Klear Kable installed in the car. Well, the sound quality should be better with Karma Kable.
  • Positive Battery Terminal -- how do you get this thing on? Is it easy? Anyone have pics? How does it connect to existing car's positive battery terminals? Or did I waste my money on that terminal?
  • A bunch of inline ATC fuse holders, 18awg primary wire, some 80A fuses.

I'm gonna keep the purple Klassic Konnectz 5M RCA cable for my subwoofer channel, since the noise there is not audible to me.

Yea, the RCA length thing is a tricky one. Let us know if the RCA's make any noticeable difference, though. Alot of them are indeed trimmable, I just never trust myself enough to do it. You're gonna pull twisted 12g through your doors??? dayem. have fun with that one... I guess it shouldnt' be THAT bad compared to the pair of 14&18's plus the dual-insulated 4x24 telephone wire I've got running now.

Not sure exactly what you're asking about the batt terminal bit, but here's what mine looks like. Basically you just cut off the stock terminal as close to the end as you can. I've got the full 1sty groundwire kit that also upgraded my power wire to the fusebox, That's the large blue one that's on the screw-terminal. Prior to that, I had both that and my alternator cable in the left side hole.

Yep, I'm planning one entire day, morning to evening, to put in everything. I don't work very fast (I like to double-check things five times over), and pulling wire through the doors looks pretty tricky (or at least time consuming).

BTW, that's a nice picture, thanks! It appears that you tighten the terminal around the post with the screw, I wasn't sure whether that was the case.

I guess I'll see what I can do with the current connections. Right now, in addition to stock wires, I am running my 4ga audio cable (fat ring terminal), and a 12ga connection for my air horn.

I'll let you know if the RCA's make a difference. They'll be the easiest thing to run through first (compared to everything else).

Pulling wire really isn't THAT hard, check my how-to that info'll make it easy. (linked in my sig if you can't find it elsewhere)

As for the terminals. they're all metric allenbolts. There's a 5mm on the side that clamps it onto the battery post. If you don't have metric allens, get some.

And I really wouldn't worry about fitting all of your wires. The right side's designed to fit 0/1g, and the left side's 4g I believe. LIke I said, I HAD both of my stock wires inthere with room to spare. It'll likely fit your airhorn wire too. You can always "stack" ring terminals if you run outta space.
