Wiper Problem (Won't Shutoff and will not retract)

I just picked up this car and it had 3 miles on it. They found a small problem with the wipers but I think its much bigger. I turned them on and they would not turn off until I shut the car off. I have an appointment on Saturday to get this and the driver side button replaced. I am not upset I am just curiouse if anyone else has experienced this problem?

I have not had this problem. Does your CX-9 have the rain sensing wipers?
