2015 GT CX-5 w/ Tech Package
The cx-5 recommends 36 psi for all 4 tires for the stock wheels that come with the car, I have the toyos 19in with the GT version. I just got 19in winters put on this weekend, and the max psi rating for the tires is 40 - the blizzak dm-v1s. I set the pressure to 36 after getting home from having the shop swap out my wheels/tires. Is that too much? The winters are the same exact size 225/55R19 as the stock tires, so it would seem that having them at the same pressure makes the most sense?

Well, the owners' manual for the 2013 on page 3-40 states that when using winter tires the inflation pressure should be 4.3 PSI MORE than the recommendation on the door label, but not to exceed the maximum recommended by the tire manufacturer. This suggests that you should be running with 40 PSI. Just sayin'.

Winter tires, no matter which car, should be around 3 to 4 psi higher than summer. So the manual sounds right, mine are at 39.

After looking at the tires again, I miss read the max psi, it is 44, the 40 psi rating had something to do with mounting the bead side wall? not exactly sure.

I put them up to 40psi which is +4 from the 36 that the stock/summer tires were, hopefully will see a little better mpg with the appropriate tire pressure for the conditions and tires.

Just out of curiosity, what did the 19" Blizzaks cost? I also have the GT, but bought OEM 17" wheels (on eBay) and put 17" DM-V1's on mine. Was about $1,200 for my setup.

Got mine from tirerack, and it was about 1600 total, and they mount and balance for free. The blizzaks were 158 each, and the wheels were 260 each. I spent some time choosing the wheels as I feel I may make them my primaries in the future, as I really like the look and loss in weight, as they are significantly less than the stock wheels.

And to have them installed was 50 at my local shop. I figured having them on their own wheels would make it cheaper in the long run swapping each season, instead of paying the mounting and balancing fees each time I wanted to swap the tires off the wheels.

For reference, we are running our snows (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123817319-Show-me-your-wheels/page63) at 40 as well. I figured with the smaller rims and a taller profile tire the extra pressure would bring us back towards the stiffness of the OEM setup, and that seems to be the case as the driving experience is about the same.

Again for reference, the 17" aftermarket alloys were on sale and the total bill was right about $1K shipped to our door.
