Winter Issues

Squeaking bushings?? Unheard of :p

Wife just reported some sort of squeaking yesterday, a couple years after applying the TSB on the 06. Warranty just expired a couple of weeks ago, so will grease if needed, if somebody has recommendation post it on the do it yourself section, that can be handy :D

Just trying to help, but the water displacement qualities negate any lasting lubricating qualities of the very light and very small percentage of mineral oil in the product. I worked for a lock manufacturer and I cannot count the number of people who ruined their locks by spraying WD-40 into them. WD-40 will help to remove old dirty lubricant, but you must replace that lost lubricant with something other than WD-40 to maintain smooth operation. Many folks are under the impression that WD-40 is a general purpose lubricant and it just is not that.

I would like to suggest a grease for the type of suspension sound and other jobs. I have used this grease for many years, on different projects, both indoor or outdoor. I have never seen anything so good (my personal opinion). This might work where other greases lack after a while.

You know I've always considered WD40 as a lubricant. Good to be educated. I did find this week that it is a hellofa degreaser, better than the solvent in my tank. Can't believe its taken me that long to realize, I've used it to wash my hands when they were black from car work many times.

That moly sounds like it should do the trick, I'll have to see about lubing up my 5 after finals this week.

We have a week of average -28 celcius.. and the suspension noise still has not come back. Based on this, I believe the Service bulletin as implemented by my dealer is effective. They Replaced and lubricate the bushings. So far this is the 2nd winter on the bushing/grease.

Which means if one has brought his mazda5 to the dealer for the same 'TSB',
and the noise still comes back.. it is possible the work was not done right.
Maybe they did not put the right grease, or maybe they forgot to apply the grease at all. Also there are torque specs for those bushing clamps. Maybe they did not do it properly etc.

Yup mine too. Already 2 winters with out the dreaded noisy bushings. Although the noise on the driver seat belt anchor returned. The noise is like a knocking sound whenever you hit a small pothole sounds like the door is slightly open, last time Jandree suggested moving the seat belt anchor up one notch and it work, well this time it didn't I may talk to my SA when its time for my oil change.

You learn something new all the time. Thanks!
