Windows 8 with R4 software

I posted in the SSAFC thread, but figured I'd make a whole new post. Has anybody gotten the R4 software to work with Windows 8? It just gives me errors when I try to connect. It was working on my Windows 7 laptop, but since that died, and the only options now for laptops have Windows 8, I'm kinda stuck. Anybody have a fix for this?

I am running it, run the program as an administrator and select the compatibility mode option and it will work fine.
