Window Tint

I had my new 2016.5 sport tinted 3-4 weeks ago. I only did the back 2 windows, smaller 2 windows and lift-gate window to 20%. Unfortunately I was not able to do my front 2 windows as NY state just passed a new law this past January 2017. Your car needs to pass 70% light in your front windows in order to pass your yearly inspection.

In the past I would drive with illegal tints on my car, I forgot the percentage, but they weren't really dark tints. Not enough for a cop to pull me over for it. I think I got stopped twice by the cops for little stupid things and they never said a thing about them. I wasn't risking it this time and I didn't do anything to my front windows.

I hate how we cant just go 20-30% all around. Looks much cleaner this way.

You can just tell the cop that they are the legal limit (35%) but I know some places like Quebec they have some sort of gun that measures the percentage.

Hey all!

How many of you guys have window tint? Have you had any issues with being stopped by the cops for it? The state law in Wisconsin is 50% in front. Is that even worth the money? It looks so light!

What percentage are you all using? I just don't want to be constantly getting pulled over for it..

Any thoughts on a happy medium for the front windows?

I use ceramic. Blocks heat about the same no-matter what transparency you go with.
I have received one tint ticket in my life. Legal limit was 25%, IIRC, and I was metered at 16-17% on-site. I was profiled as a drug dealer or something when I was pulled over until I got out in my uniform. Then it was a begrudging "well we have to write it anyway" situation.

I could give a s***. I tint my cars exactly how I want, which, since I drive a lot at night, is usually 25% or so.

I'm laughing way too much right now.
