Window Tint Laws Reference

Wow that is really helpful. I was convinced that in Alberta that front windows were legal to tint because I see lots of people with dark front tint but I guess not. Maybe I will tint the front anyways but that might land me some tickets.

I would check with your local autorities or local authorities webpage. On that page it says NC is simply legal. But there are limitations and specifics involved to all states and I assume the same is true in Canada.

Yeah that is a good website Minnow but it doesnt have Canada. Where can I find specifics for Alberta on the web?

DUMDUMDUMMMMMM....im breaking the law and i didnt even know it...hehe not that the cops dont care eaither (shrug) great info...wish i would of known sooner...i would of blacked out my rear tints completly

ONTARIO, CANADA:

35% driver/passenger windows
as dark as you want @ rear/rear door, as long as it's transparent
No tintin' @ all for front windshield

correct me if i'm wrong.........

It is illegal for tinting of front windows but I have my Eclipse tinted anyway and no cops have harassed me yet. It might be a different story next year when it will get its first state motor vehicle inspection.

Yeah, that's not specific enough
I know VA only allows 50% in the front and 35% in the rears and no rear window.

VA doesn't allow tint in the back window? What kind of madness is that? @_@

Its just so when you reverse at night, you can actually see behind you.
A better number would be like 50% rear windshield.
Imagine the car in VA with the maximum for everything. Lightly tinted front driver and passenger windows, darker rear windows, none on front or rear windshields.
How weird would that look???

sgryzko...to clear up the legal thing where we live...it's illegal, but if you keep it light you shouldn't have much of a problem. Even if you get a cop that's being a dork, they'll usually just rip it off on the spot and skip the ticket. Failing THAT...it's a $35 ticket with no demerits or anything...no biggie!

I'm thinking about getting tint and also can't decide what to do about the side windows. My thought is maybe just tint the whole car fairly light and do the sides too...that way the cops can still see in and it makes them happy.

Haha I'll stick with my 5% all around. I love it, it's darker than anything and it makes my car look so cool. :)

hey, at lease u guys don't have to get 50% because thats the law for Ohio for front/rear doors and rear windshield
