will you trade in the msp for ms6??

i took the mazdaspeed6 out for a half hour today. fun stuff.

throttle is very responsive. the car really feels eager from a standing start, makes stop and go traffic an exercise to get used to. the clutch is solid and had good feel on the pedal, grabbed good on hard shifts. you can tell a difference immediately between a Flat Rock assembled 6 and Hiroshima assembled Mazdaspeed6. the fit and finish just seem that much better and the rattles/ticks/clunks aren't there like they are in the US 6s i have driven. thankfully, tacky accents are nowhere to be found and instead you have a clean, more upscale, refined interior with a hit of brushed metal rings and leather throughout to add just the right amount of style. steering is spot on and the car corners flat for a "big car". not even the slightest bit of lean when you're gunning it into a turn. the shifter is a ******* dream compared to a protege. it snaps into every gear and you have no trouble putting it through its changes. getting back into my car, i yearned for a lack of notchiness, lack of relative effort. the ms6's shifting felt natural as hell.

of course, there is the engine. the engine purrs fairly politely by comparison to other cars and even when you rev it up, the tone is smooth and pleasant to the ears. the turbo is muted somewhat. i could stand for a little more audible exhaust note, etc. when you get on it, the car goes. and i mean it really does have some go to it. we're not talking mind blowing acceleration, but it will easily smoke your average mazdaspeed protege. the onset of power is silky smooth - no hiccups or hesitation, no speakable turbo lag and full power is relatively on tap. my only complaint, and its very noticeable, is that despite 6500 rpm redline, the car flatlines above 6000. i had run the car hard a few times to verify, but each time i did it seemed like the car just wasn't making any power past 6000 rpm. shifting at 6000 instead of 6500, the car felt a hair faster which somewhat boggled me.

overall i was impressed. plus there are rebates on them already. not going to run out and buy one, but i was told i could probably pick one up in a month or two for 22000 vs 29000.
Damn, now I'm really wishing I could take one for a spin (manager said no). Oh well, maybe come spring when they aren't such a hot commodity. That, or when I'm in town, maybe we'll just have to 'borrow' one for a while. Whadya say Cap? :D

i might be able to swing a test drive...as for a full day borrow, that would require....effort :)

I don't know, I saw an MS6 (color: maroon) yesterday on the Highway, I rolled up next to what looked like a dealer and customer on a test drive, gave the (thumb) they sent it back and then I started to pass them, I could see them in my rearview mirror pointing to my car, I guess the dealer guy was telling his customer that that also is a MAZDASPEED, then he downshifted to 3rd and romped it. I had no chance. (I would love to catch one at a light.) I had 2 rather large guys in my car with me, plus was not expecting them to open it up like that. It took off like a rocket though. I need to drive one for myself to see how it compres to the MSP.

Be like me (....or Mike....LOL). Keep the MSP AND pick up the MS6. Wife gets the MSP, you get the MS6!

BTW, even in its modded state, my stock MS6 would absolutely **** my MSP in every way, shape, and form except for handling. The MSP won't catch the MS6 from a roll, from a dig, from whatever. Test drive one...and you'll get a sense of what I mean.

As a private business owner, most of it is a tax write-off. I would much rather be a slave to Mazda than a slave to the government.

And your point is? A little effort never killed anyone! (poke) j/k I'd be happy with a half hour. :)

I saw one at my dealership the other day and I must say... That exhaust looks real mean. Very clean car, but I fell hard in love with my protege. Not just about HP and cornering, the MSP is rare, fun, and sexy. No replacement for me....sexy titanium for me....

That exhaust looks real mean.

i haven't seen it in person, but my dad test drove one, and he said he was checking out the exhaust, and those tips you see aren't even actually connected to the exhaust, its a smaller pipe that just empties into a large tube that sticks outta the bumper. seems kinda lame, but you're right, it does end up looking quite cool.

well i think the same i will like to have the msp for a long time too but it has it problems and that pissed me off !!! Just kidding i love the msp for ever and ever!!!

well i decide to keep the msp for 6 to 7 months until the mazdaspeed 3 comes alive yeah baby that one is going to be my next mazdaspeed!!!!

Not me. The MS6 is too big. AWD is nice, but I can't picture it being as tactile as the MSP. Plus I could never get into the 6's styling. The front end and raised hood on the MS6 help some, but still...

i dunno the 6 is nice but i like smaller things like the 3. I was at the dealer the other day and one sales guy said they are not selling much at all.. considering how close the price is to the RX-8 i guess.

i liek th ekeyless entry and start up the most, i hate the clutch, the car is very responsive, maybe i would trade me speed for it

i went yestarday to the dealer to test drive the ms6, vw GLI and vw passat and i choose for the passat. It handles a lot better than the ms6 , it cost $5k less and it its more luxurious and with a chip, intake and exaust it will be more faster then the ms6 , im just tired of the poor mazda reliability and i've seen and heard that the passat is a very good car with a good reliability and performance. The new FSI german 2.0turbo engines has a lot of potential and aftermarket support.

The Passat's a good car. Can't find 'em with stick and the DSG isn't on them, but the tiptronic gets the job done. Did you drive the MS6, too?

I want to go on a test drive!! That would be nice, I don't think I'm trading the MSP in for a while though. I would keep it, even if I get another car as a dailey. Hmmm...one of the local guys here has a Mazdaspeed6...
