Will these wheels fit?

I have a Mazdaspeed3 and a guy is selling a set of ASA Sport wheels with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 tires (225/50R 17). They are off of his RX-8. I am assuming the offset will be ok since the OEM RX-8 wheels seem to fit our cars fine.

I'd like to get a set of winter wheels if I can. Any thoughts? Is 225 too big?

From everything I've read here 225 should be fine. 235 would probably be OK as well (with a possible small issue in the back).

I personally would not DOWNGRADE the wheel size for daily driving. It's thats size for a reason. but other than that, the tire should fit fine.

actually, downgrading the wheel size for daily driving should be a good thing, since it will give you a smoother ride because you will have more rubber between you and the road. for performance driving, though, the added rubber will make your cornering squishier and steering less responsive.

Well the only reason I'm concerned on downgrading is that they're 18's because of the larger brakes. If you get into 17's then you'll have to mainly worry about the offset.

oh, i see what your concern is. from what i've seen, our cars do very well with 17s (just as long as the offset is reasonable (42+mm). it's the 16s where we hit some serious problems and careful selection is needed for getting a proper fit. then again, you'd never really use 16s except maybe for snow tires or drag racing.

Eh two or three.

Well weather here is extremely weird,

this year we had almost two days of snow in APRIL

so ya never know.

lucky...QQ i really wish i didn't have to choose, cause being able to use RE-01A's all year would be really really sweet...
