Will the windsheild keep cracking?

For those that have had their windshields replaced under warranty, have your windshields cracked again since? I got a crack 1 week after I bought the car and it would suck to have to keep replacing it =T.

Oh yea... Waddup to San Jo MSPs!

Mine cracked within the first week of ownership (back in Feb.). Replacement so far has been fine.....cross-my-fingers..

more or less, yes, a design flaw. i wouldn't expect it to crack, just don't be surprised if you go outside one day and it's cracked.

Damn:( oh well, that what a warranty is for...:D It's just a hassle to go to dealers. Do the standard protege's or P5's have this problem, aren't they on the same or similar chassis/body design?

Welcome to the boards (hi)

Morgan Hill here, but I work in Sunnyvale and am all over the valley for all kinds of things.

What color did you get?

Check out the HWY 9 Fun Run thread and come meet up with some of us bay area protege folks sometime: http://www.protege5.com/vbb230/showthread.php?s=&postid=385932

It's insanely long, but all you really need to do is just go to the last page, say hi and introduce yourself, then you'll get updates. Hope to see you arouund!

Hi thanks for the warm welcome. I got one of the few remaining black micas left here in California. I've never driven on highway 9 but one of my favorites when I get the chance is along highway 1 along the coast towards Monterey as well as 17 to Santa Cruz.

I'll look forward to meeting some of you

If you like 17, you'll love hwy 9, way less traffic, much more fun to drive, and prettier if you drive it at the right time.

I think it's a conspiracy.....all the civic, cavaliers, P5s, Neons, Sentra owners, etc are smashing the windshields.

Our's just cracked last night. This is crazy! I guess it's going back to the shop :(

Thanks for the feedback about these cracking windshields. I'll have to keep an eye out. So far from what I have read, the people in this forum who have had a cracked windshield all have the 03 MSP and not the 03.5, unless I missed a post. Is this right?

Why would Mazda use a different window in the MSP from the standard protege?

when mine cracked, it was hot and i parked like sideways on a hill (kinda like left front tired highest, right rear lowest), so i assumed it was the stiffness of the chassis/body at that angle combined with the night/day heat differences that made it crack

Thats interetsing, I noticed my crack on a very hot day too. I know for a fact that there was no crack on the drive to my friends house, and when I pulled into his driveway (kind of steep and uneven) got out turned around to show him my new car and there it was. Heat + Hills = crack =P

mine never cracked. . but it was replaced under warranty cuase the optics of the windshield itself were bad. . . .like if you looked at it at certain angle the glass would be really distorted and there were like bubbles in teh glass. ..but my replacement glass is holding up fine. . . .still has the made in japan sticker on it (got it in feb)

Mine cracked twice but unfortunatley they were due to rocks. They do crack very easy however. I'm already on my second windsheild, and in need of a third.
