Will ES Headlights fit on a Protege 5????

Yes they will. At Protegefest 04 I saw a green P5 that had sedan headlights in it. They also made a truck out of the P5 as well.

Just in case you're interested, P5 headlights are probably the best halogen units on
any US car, and are certainly better than the ES lights.

In general, two-way headlight reflectors (like those for H4 bulbs) must perform both high and low
beam functions, and this design constraint hampers lighting performance. On the
other hand, each reflector in separate hi/low systems (like the P5's H7/9005) is
optimized for its specific task, resulting in improved lighting performance.

Yes...

well, almost. my sedan has an exceptional beam pattern, both high and low beam. much better than the beam pattern i have seen from the protege5 headlights.

correct
the p5 headlights DO suck

now the european P5 headlights do kick ass though

Hmm. My P5's lights are much better than my Miata's were, and when I read this, I concluded that they're pretty damn good.

However, I don't have side-by-side P5/sedan experience so I'll concede.

it doesn't mean anything
their tests were far from scientific.. the only reason why the reflectors lit up well was because of the amount of stray light and the intensity of the headlight's hotspot

the only real test is to use a photometric meter in a light tunnel... the specifics of which I am not sure about

but regardless, a sharp cut off with a Z beam pattern (found on some new cars such as audis and the lancer evolution) or an upsweep (found on all 2001-2003 protege *sedans*) will out perform the P5 headlights under any situation... poor weather, lack of glare to oncoming traffic, distance, etc

ditto....

however, the european "p5" (or sportive) headlights are loads better, but very hard to find outside of a european mazda dealer. and if you thoguth protege5 headlights were exspensive...the sportive ones are like $800 EACH!!!!

so could a protege5 headlight (with the two light sockets) fit a mazdaspeed protege if the correct wiring was done?
