i want a air intake but i also put a lot of miles on my pro5. so i already used a lot of gas. if a intake uses more gas i don't know if i will get one. and if there are quick ways to pick up the performance, tell me.

well you cant get more performance without getting less gas mileage so your asking a question that you wouldnt want to do. and i dont think adding an intake will lessen the mpg to the point where you would notice a difference

Actually, if you drive normally, it'll increase. With my headers and intake, i can constantly get 400-425 mpt.

you couldnt be more wrong bro, an intake will actually increase your fuel efficiency, it will go down though more than likely because you'll be reving your car higher to hear the intake lol. Dude with my fully modded msp I was around 34 mpg, big improvement over the 28-29 mpg i get now with my msp stock

yeah, when i had my stock air box i was getting like 300 per tank but i was driving more like a giddy 18 yr old but then i cooled it down and was getting like 325 per tank. Now with my SRI driving 70-75 on the highway, shifting at 3k and going no more than 5 mph over the limit on normal road i'm getting 400 miles per tank.

Welcome to the forum. And yes, the others are correct. If your driving habits don't change your mileage may actually increase--slightly.
Click the link in my sig, I have two kinds of intake for your car.

When I put mine on it stayed about the same but when I take long trips on the highway i get around 35mpg. Just don't always rev it up to hear it, that is where the mpg goes down.

I'm jealous,
I only got 23mpg stock, and 24mpg's now. I tried driving like the ultimate granny for a whole tank and only got 25.5mpg, and when I drive crazy I get 23.5mpg, so I just drive how I want now.

My MPG suck, I hate the auto!

In theory opening up the intake and exhaust systems will reduce back pressure and should increase mpg with normal driving. Nice to see some actual figures from users :) Guess Intake is next on the list!!!

An intake can increase your gas milleage just depends on the way you drive. I can get over 35mpg but I've also goten around 20, which sucked but it goes to show that it depends on your driving habits.

How fast were you driving at 35mpg? 70 mph (~3000 rpm)?

I actually do a lot of city driving becauise of my work but I've gotten really good milleage on the hwy. I got around 45mpg on a 6hr drive going around 80-85mph the whole way. Oh and like the Kid says the auto sucks for fuel economy.

What AI do you have? I am thinking of just getting a cheap ebay one, don't feel the need to pay the extra $$$.

It looks like that both CAI and SRI can reduce mpg
but i hv a stupid question, will just replacing the stock filter with K&N Drop in filter reduce mpg as well???

it would definitley help but I know it won't be a noticeable gain or anything major, but hey every little bit will help
