will 48 offset hurt our cars?

I think I am settled on these wheels but just cant figure out what will look best on my black mica MS3. I am concerned about the width of 8" and the offset of 48+ but tirerack.com suggests our same size OEM tire for this rim. I have been trying to read up on offsets and I finding that too much can stress bearings ect.

The black on black looks evil and I like it but I prefer silver although I hate how after 2 days drving they are coated with brake dust and look like s***. The only solution is daily cleaning or black wheels.

Any input on this wheel or color opinions?

i dont know about that 8" width because my rims are 7 1/2" with +48 offset and the tires is 215/40/17 and i had to roll the fenders a little to stop the tires rubbing.

Proto's came w/stock 16" wheels, correct? You are plus 2 using 18's.
He has an MS3 which came stock w/18's. I don't think they'll pose any problems, but I also know that there is a width limit, and 8" may be it.
A +48 off set should be OK and pose no problems imo, Whitey.

I wish they were the stock 7.5 width but they arent but I love that wheel most.

The other rims that are nearly the exact size like the Kazera I dont really like 100% since the spokes dont extend to the lip of the rim like they do on these OZ's. When the spokes stop before the lip it makes the rim look smaller then what it is.

What problems COULD there be with a 48+ offset and 8" width? Tirerack suggests the same size tire for that wheel even though it is .5 inch wider but will that screw up the tire and over stretch it? They also have a clause that says they have measured each car that they offer tire/wheel pacakages on to ensure no problems with that combo. I am thinking these wheels come up as an option since they fit but dont want to find out the hard way either.

PS what do you think of that wheel on my Black Mica? No more brake dust blow outs all over a silver rim will be nice.

Also in reply to the other thread you so kindly answered to I think these wheels come with lugs and hardware in that price. It says they come with 20 lugs and 4 centering rings.

Remember, you said, "could."
You could have a fender edge clearence problem... but I doubt it.
You could have a strut to wheel clearence problem... but I doubt it.

Personally, and from what I know, or what think I know (remember my suggestion to check out everything before you commit,) you won't have any problems using these. And my best guess is that Mazda allowed for @ least another inch in wheel width. Maybe more?

Black wheels? Well that's a personal thing, and I personally am not too wild about most black wheels, though I have seen some that compliment the car better than it would other cars.
I understand about the brake dust issue. Every one on here does. I am/was considering white wheels on mine. I've seen a white hatch w/white wheels and believe it or not, it looks awesome. Think of the brake dust on those!!
My second choice is steel (light) or gunmetal (a little darker) gray. Again, a personal thing. To each his/her own.
You could always replace the brake pads. There are many out there that are not nearly as dusty as the OEM's. There has been much discussion about br pads on this, and all the other forums too. Check it out!

I am using Ultraleggeras in 8 x 18 with 48 mm offset and 215/45 tyres. The car is lowered with Bilstein B14 PSS coilovers and I have no issues with rubbing.

Dude you should totally get 18x8 et 65.... It will really make your car stand out, and youll never have to worry about curb rash or crap flying up on your fenders.....lmao.......oh and some 205 55 18 tires will really set them off!!!

Never mind the trancer 21 year old dip s*** he must be tripping on his s*** and listening to that electro music again.

If you look at his rim pics they look like s*** and stick way out and I asked about it throwing s*** all over the fenders so he is upset.

As for the whole voicecoil deal...chill out. I didn't see what he said as incendiary. I figured he was joking. If he's getting to you, be the bigger man and ignore it. Responding to comments in an elevated manner makes you look like a tool. One thing I like about this site vs. the other one is that there isn't much of that kind of behavior here. I'd prefer to keep it that way.
