will +45 offset rub?

according to rishie's guide, you'll need a +48mm offset, though you may be able to run a +45.

mavespeed, what camber kit did you get?

Thanks for the info. But I have another Q? Exactly how does the offset work? How is that measured exactly? Also, I'm going to be installing my Eibachs and Tokicos in a week so I will prob need the camber bolts. Tirerack has the Eibach bolts for $25. Good price?

i think tirerack has a good writeup/diagrams on how all the measurements of a wheel are taken. the lower the +offset, the farther the wheel will stick out. our stock ones are +55 offset and you can see how far the wheel is tucked under the fender. that's why we need such a high offset....so that the tire won't end up sticking so far out that it'll rub the fender.

oh btw, gonna order my wheels tomorrow, thanks for all the help guys (2thumbs)

The offset relates to the distance the mounting plate for the wheel is from the center line of the wheel, measured in millimetres, a +55 offset means the mount for the wheel to hub is 55 mm towards the outside of the wheel, a -55 offset would mean the mount is placed towards the hub or closer to the inside of the wheel, I'm a layman but I hope it helps you understand It.

i'm in 16x7 =42 offset with 205/50/16 and SLAMMED and it doesn't rub at all, when i go to the 215's it's going to need a do-it-yourself fender rolling. (it's really easy, if you want details PM me.)

Ok i have a question i'm currently running Tein SS on my MSP. I have a set of 18x7.5 Racing Hart C-5 with a +42MM offset would they fit on the car? If not why? Would i have to roll the fenders? Please let me know pm me if at all possible.

they tell me no with 17x7's with a 42 offset so most likely no.... 7.5 are sure to rub even if you roll the fender. I am going to have my fenders cut and repainted and then i will throw them on... I just put my sportlines on last week and it look like it will rub if the fenders are there....If the fenders dont work then either i will mill down the rim 2mm-3mm so that it will fit or i will just have to buy another pair and sell these...

Now if i went to a machine shop is their anyway to machine the wheels to a different offset?

yes, you can up the offset by having the mounting face machined down. but too much and you compromise the wheel strength and you might run the risk of hitting the brake caliper.

hahaha that's where i bought my wheels from. if you call, ask for vick and he'll get you squared away.

btw, zmn, do u have pics of your 5zigen pro racer wheels? i'm curious to see how those look on an msp cause i was actually gonna go with those originally.

oh yeah, i'm thinking about selling my stock wheels so if anybody knows anybody in the market...:)

I dont have a picture of them on my car but they look awesome man. Oh i did deal with vick nice guy

hey just wanted to let people know, i have no rub with my setup. i even hauled around 4 other people the other day and still had no rub.

so if i get rims with like a 45 or 48 offset they will be ok?? but like a 42 mite be a problem? do i have this right?

yeah. you should be ok with a +45 and stock tires.....no wheels wider than 7.5" though. with +42, i think you'll have problems. also, i'm not sure if i have any room for a drop. unless the tires miraculously tuck up under the fenders. the front i'm not worried about, just the rear.

ya im sittin with goldlines right now..so i should keep the 215 tiresize and do a 45 or 48 offset to be safe? 42 offset will prob rub with a drop huh

how much of a drop did the goldlines give you? i think you'll be ok....it would be safer though if you got lower profile tires....like a 215/40 or 35. i'll prolly switch to a lower profile one whenever my current set wears out. i think that'll give me plenty of room for some tein s-techs then or a coilover kit.

but definitely get at least a 45 offset. a 48 would be best.

sweetlou69, i checked to see if there'd be a chance of rubbing if i had a drop.....it'd be close. really close. like millimeters. if at all possible, get a +48. otherwise, you might have to roll the fenders slightly.

however, your drop might have a created a little more camber...enough to clear the fender. it's tough to say. either way, it's gonna be a close fit with +45.

Can someone give me a measurement.....48+ is safe right? so if you have a 42+ that is a difference of 6 right? Is that 6 millimeters? if that is the case we are talking about .6 centimeters which should be almost a quarter of an inch right? So if we had 42+ basically we would just have to roll the fenders correct?

and also if it was lowered your camber would change slightly then to top that off........ok damn it, what i am trying to say is that when we say RUB it does not mean the car literally sits on the fender....the tire BARELY grazes the fender....the front part....
