Will 2006 Mp3/CD Changer fit okay in 2005/2004?

:
Mazda 3 GT Sedan
Okay I know this looks like a dumb q: but you never know what goes on in the dashboards year to year.

Since you guys are the experts.

Will the 2006 Mazda3 CD/Mp3 Changer (I think it's just new) fit with into a 2005/2004 Mazda3 (with no problems)?

I see that Mazda lists 2 changers. 1) With Trip Computer 2) Without Trip Computer.

Since the Trip Computer is a new 2006 feaure I assume that I could only use the 2nd option.

Thanks for any help!! I am desperate to get OEM Mp3 into my car.

Although they look the same, the '06 Mazda3 headunit is completely different from the '04-'05 headunit and the modular components (e.g. CD player, CD changer, MP3, etc...) are NOT compatible with each other.

So you are correct in that you would need to get the CD changer without trip computer since you don't have an '06.

Thanks for the reply!! So...just to be absolutely crystal clear.
If I ordered the 6 CD/MP3 Changer version "WITHOUT TRIP COMPUTER" and the matching trim plate I would be fine in my '05 GT Sedan?

And how so you know for sure? Have you or a buddy done this or do you work at Mazda? I dont wanna make a big mistake, my wife would cut my boys off!!..This guys quoted me $637.72 for the pair delivered.
Thanks...

I know the '06 headunits are not compatable from the '04-'05 ones because a) I've been told so, and b) I've seen a test fitment with the '04-'05 6CD not working in the head unit of an '06 Mazda3.

If you want to be absolutely sure, post the part # of the MP3 player and either myself or other members here can confirm it's the '04-'05 one (otherwise, I'm assuming you're getting from the dealer anyways, so make sure they get you the '04-'05 one).

Edit: Oh yeah, just to be clear, it's only on the '06 is there a 6CD that can also read MP3 (which again is not compatible with your '05). For the '04-'05 units, there is only a single-disc MP3 player (i.e. you'd be replacing a single-disc CD player with a single-disc CD player that can also read MP3).

Ahhh...SO I can ONLY put in the single MP3/CD deck or regular 6 Changer Deck (no mp3) in my '05 your saying.....

The parts I was looking at getting (from the '06 Accessories list) are:

Player: BSOA-79-EGX (For cars with NO trip computer)
Panel: BSOA-79-BGX

The part number you list is the 6CD/MP3 player for the '06 Canadian-spec Mazda3 GX. You can try (and if it's from a dealer, they'll make sure it'll work before you have to pay), but as I mentioned, I've been told mixing the components like this won't work and I've seen one combination of it test-fitted unsuccessfully.

Instead, the sure bet is the single-disc MP3 player: GJ6B-79-AGXB

You can find this single-disc MP3 player in the '05 accessory list:
