Wierd auto-x tire question

Ok, so this may be perfectly normal, but I just noticed unloading my car (from yesterday) this afternoon. They are solely auto-x tires. I've got 20 runs on these tires (or there abouts). The pictures are kinda crappy (phone), but hopefully you can see it. On the outside shoulder, on the trailing edge of each tread block, there's like a little lip (a little flick up...it's hard to describe).

Is this normal? What would be causing that?

I'm going to go with "yea". Since they are at full tread depth, the blocks are deflecting under corner loading. So the top layer of rubber is being pulled towards the groove and then snapping back in place and basically flapping. I've seen it on other "max performance" tires also with large tread blocks.




























I have no idea if that's right or not, but it sounds good. I'm just trying to visualize what the tires are doing while you are cornering. Maybe someone can back it up with real knowledge.

That's what I thought, I just didn't know if it was some sign of impending doom for my car, or of the apocalypse, you know.

How is it that I've gotten a crapload of info from you, but we've never met lol?

I thought we met at GCFG at either points 11 or 12. I could be wrong. I'm the half-asian dude. When the paddock/grid was in the upper lot.
