Hey guys, just wondering what the widest tire you can run on the stock MSP racingheart rims.. i believe they are 17x7 (correct me if im wrong) which should be able to support up to a 235 tire.. could someone please point me in the right direction?

The tires i have came on the car and they definatly arent the right size. they are only 205/55/17's and now that its time to buy new tires i would like to go a little bit wider than what stock is which i believe is a 215/45/17 (once again correct me if im wrong)

So basically i would like to know what the widest tire someone is running on their msp.. Thanks!

215/45/17 is the stock size that is correct

and when i first got my car i think there was 235 (might of been just 230 also dont remember that well) on it.... but now im at 225/45/17

Ok well 225 do fit and 235 might also but if its lowered it will rub my brother has coilovers on his mp3 and they have the same size wheels and the 225/45/17 did end up rubbin as for the widest i bet i could get 245 to fit on the rims but i dont think that it'll fit on a protege

you'd be surprised what you could fit on a 7" rim. It depends on the sidewall height and the abilities of the tech mounting the tire. I have 245 on a 7.5" and it fits perfectly. I don't think it'll be too much a strain to put it on a 7". The only thing you'll need to look out for is rubbing on the suspension or fender. Have you lowered your car at all? I have the 245s with +48 offset, and there was a little bit of rubbing on the suspension, but I think it was more from the autocross and the lateral forces.

Hmm okay... Good to know, so it seems like I can fit a 225/45 tire on a 7" width rim, and no rubbing at stock height!?!

Some people run 245/35-17 tires in the front for autocross on the stock wheels. You won't be able to fit those in the rear though without rubbing. I run 225/45-17 and I rub in the rear over large bumps/people in the back seat with +45 offset. Stock wheels will be fine at 225.

I was running 225/45/17 rt165s at the track this weekend and I rubbed the inside fender on the front and plastic panel in the back

so will 18s with 225 rub? please confirm guys b/c im going to put my coilovers and want to drop the rear but if the 225 are going to rub when drop or even with my stock MSP suspension?

I run 215/40/18's on 18x7.5 +45 wheels and rub on full lock turns in the front. I am lowered a little, on Espelir springs. They work out to be about .75" lower than stock MSP springs. My rear doesn't rub, but that's probably because the stance of my car.

You may be able to get away with it on a 35 profile though, IDK.
