lmao jus playin, god wat a stupid s*** and plus she took off thinking she had a chance i would just said fuk it i lost and saved the gas

Young kids and fast cars never mix well. Driver's ed doesnt prepare you for that s***. It's the "cool" crowd and peer pressure that does it too. Everyone I knew in high school that had a car they couldn't handle ended up in an accident. While street racing is nothing new, unfortunetly it's getting more and more popular thanks to the street racing movies that keep coming out. I started seeing a helluva lot more wannabe racers/ricers and underground videos coming out right after the first Fast and Furious movie. Maybe just a coincidence.... still, even with programs to help young drivers, it's still a game of chance. The insurance rates aren't as high as they are for teenagers for no reason. Only experience and time will make you a better driver. Don't take your ride to a street race.

Yeah and the friends bailed on them. Figures. I would too, you'll get a ticket for "loitering" or "participating in an illegal gathering" or a number of 'miscl.' charges. Besides the obvious maiming and charges that will be pending and of course getting a supoena for being a witness in court just for being there. A million reasons to NOT be there, makes the one reason for actually BEING THERE kinda stupid. Not to mention getting your car taken away by your parents. Not worth riding the yellow bananna back to school.

interesting... no real comments beside what people ahve posted before. but whered u get that link? another forum? - chris

Jeez .... If someone was seriously injured or killed... Anyone remember hearing about this one? I know street racing accidents are a dime a dozen these days though so ..... Fatality in Houston a couple weeks ago

I can't see it...:( it doesn't work for me.

i didn't get around to watching that until last night. and i forgot that my monitor is set to a different gama setting so i can work on photos and such... so i didn't see the severity of it till people started posting about the person on the hood. man, what the hell happened? then the fire afterwards! i don't think a street race could have gone any more wrong.

i'm guessing she launched too hard, rear wheels started to spin, and she turned the wheel a little bit to the left and couldn't control it. she obviously couldn't drive stick well, seeing as she stalled, so she probably just revved it way high and dumped it to make sure she didn't stall again. smart people. and btw not all kids are super street racers. i rarely street race (only like twice in the msp so far, 3rd gear pulls on the highway against friends), and i don't go to the "organized illegals." just letting you know not all kids are stupid ricers, some of us are stupid performance people :)

street racing has been a part of americana since the advent of the muscle cars of the late 50's. the 1960's muscle cars from ever major manufacturer did nothing but add more gas to the fire. it took a break in the 70's because of the oil crunch, and started up again in the 80's. it's always been around, it's just now more popular than ever. we also hear of more of the deaths and injuries now because of modern media. people died and got injured a whole lot more when there weren't all the safety advances that we now have.

Damn, I saw the body. :( That sux. One night at the races (almost a year ago), that could have easily been me hittting someone all because this Mustang GT wanted to keep loosing to me. We got way too close to some bystanders. I won't go again.

That came off of a NC underground music site. I go there every now and then, but I never saw that. I wonder if it is from NC? I never heard anything about it.

Oh i know racing like this has been around since cars have but organized illegal nights like this one are pretty new. It's the bystanders that I feel for. Drivers have fate in their own hands. Yes I know the bystanders are there willingly but you get my drift. No pun

What ever happened to good ol' fashioned "playing chicken" like back in the 50's? Just two idiots trying to kill themselves or get thrown off a cliff. They probably had bystanders back then too...

I blame American Graffiti

And the name of this thread should be "why you shouldn't watch street racing"

edit - street racing is stupid. This is a great eye-opener... regardless of whether you think you can drive your car or not, there are more than just your life and your car at stake. It's too easy and too quick to lose it; a lot can go wrong that is entirely out of your control.

I hope no one was seriously injured, and if they were, I hope we find out about it if only to provide that much more incentive to keep it mellow on the streets and save it for the track.
