Toyota has Lexus.
Honda has Acura.
Nissan has Infinity.
Mazda has (headshake .

Any thoughts on why there is no luxury line based on Mazdas?

From a Mazda newbie who is just curious.

IMO If you took Toyota and merged it with Lexus, you'd have Mazda. It's a bit of luxury, a bit of sport, and not so expensive.

Good point.

Having not followed Mazda closely over the years, I'm guessing the Millenia was the most obvious attempt at luxury. Still though, the badging was Mazda.

mazda is too small to have its own luxury line.. it has 1 plant that makes car..

Mazda does a pretty good job of marketing across generations. However they do not have a luxury brand. This is something I see happening in the future though. Toyota had to create the scion cars to go down to younger generations. Gen x and gen y are both covered by Mazda.

Note: There was no point to my above statement per se it was just my rambling typed onto a monitor.

i remember them trying to starting one called amati. (rearranged letters of miata) they abandoned the idea in '93 because of "a crowded marketplace."

Mazda does not own ford...they merged: 50/50

They share platforms, mechanics, etc....just not quality! :D Ha!
