Where is the drinking section? I call dibs on moderator of that.

Seriously though, that is not an even comparison.

ok, then lets just focus on this.

Number of street racing accidents last year: 50
Number of street racing accidents caused by people on msprotege.com: 0
Number of street racing accidents caused by people posting up racing stories on msprotege.com: 0

NO HARM NO FOUL.

untrue again, just because someone doesn't post about it doesn't mean they didn't get into an accident while street racing, and i've seen posts where people mention things broke or they hit something while racing, it just doesn't make it into the "street racing section" because it's not something they brag about, which is all that section is, a bragging section

yes because seeing a street racing section made me go out and street race, never before have i street raced but because of a section on an internet forum i did, **** lets ban off topic because people talk about doing drugs there and i think i will follow them too, "Who Smokes and i don't mean cigarettes" well i don't but becasue of the thread i will now do so

Just curious, where did you get those numbers from?

Also, people read on MSprotege.com all the time, doesn't mean they post or are members. Especially if you got into an accident. I would never post about racing and crashing.

Why does having the street racing forum bother so many people. Its not hard to just not go to it if you don't approve. It's basically the same as when people get offended by things they see on a certain show, if you know you don't approve of the show then don't watch it. It really irritates me that people think that their view should be forced upon someone else. Plain and simple if you don't like it, don't read it.

Having a dedicated section just encourages it.

this isn't even an issue, I'm sure we all have more importants things to do than worry about having a street racing section. It doesn't hurt and deleting it won't help.

it may encourage it, but getting rid of it sure as hell won't stop it. they are entire forums & on-line communities dedicated to street racing. its just one of those things you have to let be.

totally missing the point, it's not that people are street racing because of it. people who street race are going to regardless. by having a section where people can go and brag about their races, it is a form of promotion of street racing. some people like the attention they get from others responding to their thread, so they could be more likely to race.

can anyone argue why there should be a street racing section? what function does it serve?

I voted to keep it. We need to rid the world of more stupid people. Thing like helmet laws and seatbelt laws, speed limits keep stupidity in our gene pool. If people want to drag on the street and htey end up rolling thier cars 15 times then its on them. They should be smart enough to know that they should not be doing it in the first place. But hell its a long lived tradition since the muscle car days and it will never go away just because you remove a thread. They didnt even have the interent when the mustangs were whooping the chevy's back in the late 60's

and having a dedicated section to modification encourages us to void our warrenties and speed. I mean, whats the point of a new exahust and FMIC if you dont want to go faster... Its like saying, this community encourages you to build a HELLA FAST CAR, but just dont use it for that... and if you do, dont ever speak about it, because everytime you do god is going to kill a panda.

some people have lost others they care about in a street racing accident. maybe you have been lucky enough not to have, but that's not true for everyone. i don't read it, but i still think it has no place on this board as there is nothing positive associated with it

the function is that a lot of ppl were posting abuot street racing in other sections of the board and as you can tell from this thread a lot of ppl didnt want to see that. the street racing forum was to have a place for all these threads to be posted so they could be more easily ignored by others.

I think its stupid to do and even worse to brag about but it serves an administrative purpose on the forums. I think an acceptable change would be making that like the dumpster where it empties itself on a rotating basis, but still call it the street racing section so ppl will post their threads there.

last i checked, voiding your warranty isn't illegal and modding your car doesn't change how fast your car can go, only how quickly your car can get there. i go 80 on the highway regardless of what i'm driving, for better or worse. there is also no "successful speeding runs" section.

plus nobody on here is building a hella fast car, it's a mazda site :p

true

or we could make it like a lot of other forums where any discussion of street racing is not allowed and can get you banned (evom.net for example)

Race Track or Drag Strip?

Not Street.

but is that going to cut down on anything? i really dont think so. Lets be honest with ourselves, not one person posting in this thread would be swayed to go out and race by reading a "kill" story in the forum.
