Why is the Nav screen so dark?

No matter how high I have the settings, the screen is to dark.
Only at night with it set for daytime, is it bright.
A tomtom is much brighter.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

thanks

Are you sure the system is not in night mode? The light sensor is pretty senstive and goes into night mode easily or of the car is started in a dark garage. You can confirm if the cx-9 is night mode with the headlights on by looking at the dash while the car is running (or standing in front of the car). The dash will have the headlight lamp illuminated.

If the headlights are on, you can manually put the display and NAV system on daylight mode by pressing in on the Dashboard Illumination Knob detailed in your owners manual, page 5-40.

The sensitivity of the system is the most annoying part of driving the car. There is an adjustment available to make the car not so light sensitive.

Mine is the same way. It's the worst in the morning when the LCD screen is cold. It brightens up as the screen warms up. I take the headlights out of "AUTO" at night so the screen is on full intensity when I remote start in the morning. It gives the screen time to warm up faster before I get outside. I've also got the brightness set to about 3/4.

I had no idea that you could push the dimmer control and take the dash light out of dim mode!!! THANK YOU for helping! I hated not being able to see the screen or speedo when it was dusk or morning and the head lights were on.

Does anyone know if the Night/Day mode on the nav screen is triggered by the headlights on/off or is there another sensor?
