why do people hate civics?

15 flat for just a simple motor swap isn't that bad. Although he should be a little faster, I'll blame the driver. I absolutely LOVE EF's, civics and crx's. I don't care what other Honda owners do. My 5th gen DX was a beast and I only spent about $1500 in parts to do it. I'll own a CRX one day or a 88-91 SI....and it will look bone stock.

I love civics!!! If they werent around we wouldnt have anything fun to destroy on the streets. I mean, I love the look on their owner's faces when they try you, then you take their ricemobiles and slaughter them. I LOVE HONDA!!

Hehe, I raced a 6th gen EX with ihe, we would be even through 1st and 2nd, in third I would just walk away. Later that night I caught the best civic of all; An auto 4 door with an unpainted body kit and a huge "Girly Girl Racing" sticker on it. Being an equal opportunity street racer I gave it a go and it was sad....poor girl.

civics suck mostly cause of the people that drive them. hondas mostly suck becuse of the people that drive them. they put a coffee can muffler tip on cause apparently a 10 inch opening for your exhaust makes you go faster. and oh yeah the huge aluminum wings, those are great, so the one day when they hit 150 plus mile an hour they might actually use it, and oh yeah they need all the downforce on rear wheels cause they're front wheel drive. i really don't like riced out anything, it's tasteless. crx's and those liile civic hatches are the ultimate for the hate. huge peices of s***. i knew a guy with a crx he did the ****** engine swap s***, i think it was a gsr motor and all that and he hit a 15 flat. and he was talkin all this s*** that he could beat my friends 98 mustang. i mean 98 mustangs are extremely slow for a V8 car but that guy still would have lost. when ricers think they can take on V8's is the biggest joke, you'll probably outhandle most but in a straight line, it's not likely. unless of course your put your 10,000 dollar civic engine versue a stock V8, then you might have a chance. but civics are kick ass for just drivin around and getting good gas mileage.

you cant say "ricers" or wel limports cant beat a v8 because its very possible hell just a few weeks ago I watched a older eclipse run with a viper at the track eclipse almost pulled on the viper but messed up on his shift. I have seen civics beat vipers as everyone has said. I have also seen them spank old camaro's mustnags and almost everything else. and they sure as hell didnt spend 10,000 grand on the civic

yeah 4cyl's taking on v8's is no joke, and very common actually.

anyways, I like Civic's, s2000's, rsx's etc. They do make a damn good car. I see a lot of childish hate from people towards Honda's and it's pathetic. It's a good car, why do you think they are so popular? I used to own a 2000 hb dx. Nice little car, nothing special, but it was reliable, and I wish I had kept it for a 2nd car as you could drive the **** out of it everyday and it never complained.

So, do I hate most civic drivers? No. It's not just civic drivers that are the problem. In fact the entire car scene is becoming a joke because of those snot nosed, pimple faced idiots trying to race everyone. Whether it's a Honda xxxxxx, srt4, spec-v, rsx, msp, p5, sti, wrx, hyundia or even a stang/f-body, m3, jesus a damn turbo diesal f-350 it doesn't bloody matter. The real problem is that attitude of someone thinking

Hey, my ___________ can take you _____________.

or my car had these mods so it can to ______ faster then stock so it can take you ___________ bla bla bla bla bla bulls***.

I don't give a s*** about anyone like that. I love cars. I do this for me, not to impress ANYONE. End of story.

I spent far less than $10 grand on my civic, and I gaurantee you it would have eaten any stock mustang alive. This included the svt models. Don't believe me, even though mine isnt alive anymore come on down to SD and there are plenty that would glady give a demonstation.

Running good times in a civic is possible, but if you want a daily driver that can crack 12's without breaking a sweat and a well built motor, chances are you're going to spend more than $10,000.

civics are not bad cars, it's the driver who gives the car a bad name. if its not riced out and modded with (useful) parts, unlike some i have seen with a non functional hoodscoop and stick on side vents. maybe even a 2 foot alluminum wing (which does nothing for a fwd unless it hits 150+mph) not likely on a everyday driver. roll call that covers the whole car, not to mention, that none of the parts on the car come from any of the roll call companys, across the hood should say (i'm sponsored by pep boys) big huge tac..(even though you already have a stock one on your dash).what i'm trying to say is if the driver is cool and doesn't think that just because his car is a civic that its the fastest thing on the street, and if you've noticed..every time a civic pulls up next to you they always rev. exhaust and a wing don't make your car fast.i know this (young) guy around town , he has a si and just because he has cai, exhaust and a huge tac..he says his car is putting almost 300hp @ the wheel...wtf ever.civic drivers should know there are faster cars out there..if the driver is cool, his civic is cool..if the driver is an ass.i just smoke'm. then laugh (wrc)

Sorry, but a stock SI (1999-2000) makes about 135whp and barely 100trq. Poor guy thinking he's fast. hehe.

civics aren't bad cars. If I had the choice bwt a protege, civic, focus or even corolla...Trust I would get a covic. Only cause of its potential. But since I never recieved that choice..I'm stuck wit eL Protege.

so you're sayin you could beat an 03 mustang cobra with a blower, that runs mid to high 12's on street tires?

i see nothing wrong with civics. i dont like the things alot of ricers do to them, but i'd much rather have a civic over a cavalier or a sunfire or a focus or a corolla.

hell id probably even take one over a regular protege.

i see people say "its just a civic" or "its a crappy civic"....well "its just a protege"

you can build up their motors with the thousands of non-ricer parts out there for them and make them beastly fast. hell you can even make them look really good with the right parts.

i think the ricer stigma around them makes people hate them
b/c of ricers like this: http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102370

the civic i had was in the 13s with no real tuning done with the fuel and timing computer. The thing would backfire like crazy, and barely idled. The thing also ran extremely rich, thought the msp had hesistation... think again. Unfortunetely my friend did the honor of compressing my car into a center divide about 3 years back so I never got to finish it. We had cams that were also going in the car, plus the car wasn't stripped. Infact it has 2 12s in the back. There are civics out there that run freaking 13s all motor, and I had a t3/t4 turbo attached to a b18. It wouldn't have been too hard to get into the high 12s which where the 03 mustang with the sc is at.

When i made the previous statement i forgot about the sc on the new ones, but I think i could still stand by the statement. I used to have a vid of a civic outrunning a viper on juice. Great vid.

It's just a stereotype i guess. It's just that there are so many of them on the road and so many of them are done up distastefully, that the common stereotype was established. they are good cars, economical, cheap, and a good starter car as well. i didn't buy one because it's prone to theft and everybody and their mother has one.

I don't hate all Civics, only those that equipped with those generic big ass sewage pipe exhaust muffers.
I hate them especially when they making those fart cannon noise around my apartment at night when everyone is sleeping. It's espeically worse while they are making the noise, their cars hardly move at all which forced us to suffer longer with the noise.

I do love a lot of clean looking lightly modded Civics.
I saw some Civics hatchback modded with some small side skirt, small front lip and spoiler wing. I think Civic (except 2003 and after coupe version) looks good enough stock.
Heavily modding the exterior simply destory the nice and clean body line.

Not everyone out there is trying to be unique. Civics have had a wonderful platform since the late 80's. The 89-91 Si hatch is only 2100lbs!! Not to mention you can swap a redonkulous amount of different b-series engines into it. 200hp, 2100 lbs, limited slip.. all for what... 6-7k? That right there is an absolutly wonderful road course and autox vehicle.

No civic hating here. Theres a reason everyone and their mother has them, and their resale is so high, and they CONSTANTLY win STS and hstock in autocross. Not to mention, it's hard to deny just how wonderful the ITR is when you get to flog one on a track or autox course... it's not hype.

hey man thanks for the extra info. and yeah you would beat any stock mustang gt i do believe, probably some of the svt's too. well depending on if it was high 13's or low 13's. 13's is mighty quick for an all motor 4 cylinder. but like u said it ran like s***. a V8 could do that all day and run awesome. i'm curious as to what you did to the car to get it that fast, that would be cool to know. thanks.
