Who's running 5W40 over 5W30?

What weight oil are you using?

I've seen that 40 is recommended in Europe, but 30 is the recommended here. What are you using and why? I'm due for an oil change and I'm thinking about going 40.

shell rotella t syn. 5w40. helps keep smoking at bay as well as fuel dilution from direct injection.

Same here...Im liking the RotellaT Syn 5w40. No smoking issues, but I like how its less suseptible to the fuel dillution. Added bonus, its one of the cheaper syns out there.

I have a Redline dealer a few blocks from my office, so I may put in some 5W-40 next OCI. I'd like to do everything I can to keep this car trouble-free long term....including a non-smoking turbo.

Ditto on what Bova said, 5w40 Rotella syn. I've put this in cars and motorcycles in the past, I've always been very happy with it

I don't seem to have a smoking issue. Not that I'm aware of anyway.

The original owner ran Castrol Syntec 5W30 since day one. I'd probably run Castrol 5W40.

Still under warrenty; therefore I run Mobil 1 5W30 super synthetic

Funny how my dealer recommended oil is 5W20....

will be changing to rotella on my next oil change..meant to last time and forgot haha...i will not run it in the winter however ill run 5w-30 in the winter..

im running rotella 5w40 also. just getting my turbo replaced by mazda. i was adv'd by the head tech, a good friend of mine, that mazda is on its 2nd revision of the turbo. they are now recommending 5w40 on this new turbo.

I use these 5w40 s**** and it seems to be okay! Had my Nitro Turbo Booster replaced at 49,xxx miles and switched right after that. I heard that with the 5w40 you tend to have a rougher starting vehicle in the winter? So I will switch back to the 5w30 come winter time if this seems to be a problem. Only time and cold weather will tell.
