who wants a side mount ic?

I would also be interested if the one Im trying to get through doesnt work

But since our SMIC location isnt direct flow for the most part and bar and plate isnt as effective as tube and fin, I would go for tube and fin please
What you talkin bout willis!
What are you smokin'?
Bar and plate is waaayy better than tube and fin.It is more efficient.
I would like to know where you got this idea?

OH Yeah,INTERESTED!
Matt

the reason for it is because a front mount is not very efficiant due to the added piping(unless your at like 15psi or more) but our motors wouldn't live long at that, and if you are running that kind of presure then you shouldn't worry yourself about price cause you should have spent a lot more on engine mods(forged internals, head work, stand alone,ect..)

so what do you guys consider a fare price?keep in mind it ain't cheep to make and the price of alluminum has jumped 60% in the past 2 weeks

Just subscribing to keep my eye on this thread. Wicked, be sure to check out the AMM/AV status information before you start seriously talking to people.

t3ase--
thanks but im just trying to get a feel for weather it's worth producing or not

errr i dont really know different prices of metals on the market, but i'd have to say that 300-350 would keep me interested. anything 415 or so and up, my mind starts to drift toward other financial needs...(b/c this is just for the ic, no hardpipes and whatnot)

put my name in. is this just going to be the smic only or hardpipes also? then if hardpipes also, will they fit w/ injen cai? i know your just getting an idea of interest, but just thought id ask anyway. i'm definitely interested though

Bar and plate DOES have less pressure loss than tube and fin, however, tube and fin has better cooling abilities. The reason tube and fin would be the best choice for a SMIC is because it isn't getting much airflow to help cool down the charge, so it's pretty much on its own. Now, for a FMIC bar and plate would be better because it has a huge amount of air hitting it which makes up for it's lack of cooling ability.

Agian, as far as a fair price goes, I think $300 is good for this size of an intercooler. $300- $400 is the average price of most larger front mount intercoolers. Now if your going to bundle replacement pipes with the intercooler then I could see the price getting closer to the $450-$500 price range. Or you could offer two different package deals: w/o pipes and w/ pipes.

Tube and fin design has better cooling only because its so much more restrictive than bar and plate. The air spends more time in the IC so it cools better. You have a larger pressure drop, more lag with a tube and fin design, so bar and plate will always beat it in the end. The side mount location is not that bad for an intercooler, youre just limited in space.

Bar & plate is NOT always better. I don't want to get into a big debate, but I can back this up if need be.

i also would be interested. i am reading all of the posts in this thread and it seems like a good idea...keeping price w/o pipes around $300-$350...with pipes add whats needed

There are select few situations that tube/fin is better, but i can't think of a practical one for the msp
