it is nice to hear of our cars putting up the miles... and yes, it is definitely refreshing over the 'my engine grenaded' threads.
i tend to drive mine into the ground... i take care of them, and put loads on of miles on them....
'traveler', my poor xterra... was a 2000 4x4 5-speed that i bought new and just punished.. i had to wait to get the manual trans with the 4 wheel drive, but i knew it would hold up for what was about to happen...
that thing too me everywhere surfing, fishing, hauling, so many trips to florida and the east coast, i've lost track...got me out of huge mud-hole mistakes, took me and buddies to port mansfield from the corpus side (60 miles of heavy sand)... towed boats, campers, trailers, etc. etc. and never gave me one problem.... only mods were a set of BFG all terrains, HD surf racks, a killer stereo, and of course, k&n and tint.
thought i would share this, as i traded it in for the speed... they gave me more than i wanted for it, so i traded it.. i'm trying not to think about all the extra miles i could have put on it. 165,000 trouble free miles... not one part needed.. i did a tune up on it out of guilt at 125,000 miles, and finally changed the factory belts

... a battery, brake pads (never did the rears.. never needed to!)... and that is it...
bought an '83 cherokee laredo from my dad (last of the big ones), 152,000 miles. rebuilt the engine and trans, and drove it for another gajillion miles... when i sold it, it had 352,000 miles, and i sold it for 1,000 more than i bought it from dad!!!!
i'll try to dig up some shots (probably negatives) of that one..
