Who has had problems with the mpi software?

This thread is for people who have had or currently have the mpi in their car and running. I got my mpi tuner and have had nothing but problems with the software since i got it. I would like to see how many other people have had the same issues. My software freezes up all the time and I can not data log and then watch it back. Please do not post unless you have had or do have the mpi tuner, FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE ONLY, please.

Sounds like it's an issue with your PC. I've seen the MPI software in action on several different cars and computers without any problems.

The SW doesn't like to work with some programs. I do not know all the programs, but when you run it, there should be nothing running in the background that doesn't need to be running. I had an issue with it and MS office. I re-installed office after the MPI SW was in and have had no issues since. You need to have your machine running smooth or the conficlts will come up. Mine works great in all aspects once there is no conflicts, but it was never the SW, it was my machine.

Sometimes I get a no communication error. I have to start the car up, shut it off, hook up my laptop, then turn the key on. Thats the only way I can talk to it.

Are you using a serial connection or a USB to serial converter? If using the USB to serial, you will get that because of the transition. If you can use the serial, you will not get that. I use a USB to serial and I get that sometimes, but I live with it. When I mount the laptop in the car, it will only be using the serail connection.

I only have serial. Its only done it once..... of course after it did that I do it the way I stated above and it's worked since.

I was told to hook the connector to the computer and boot it up. Then start SW and car. You should not hook or unhook the connection with power to the unit, it may damage it if there is any kind of surge.

Like I have been trying to tell you all weekend. The software you have is the same as everyone is using. As for the e-mails and data logs I have use AOL from day one. You e-mails are the first time the file comes in as part of the e-mail and not as file.

You have checked the wires to the MPI and have found nothing wrong. You have reinstalled the software and it did not help. The only thing left is a problem with the setting on your USB port or the adaptor. Did you try to e-mail another member a data log file to see if they can open it?
