Who else is waiting impatiently for the 2016 CX-5?

I just spoke with the salesman and asked if I could disclose the name of the dealership and his name as well. He responded as long as I didn't say what I had paid for the car. Of course I have already done that so I don't want to violate his trust after what he did for me. Thanks for all your support everybody. In the end I got very, very lucky. I only discovered this car a few weeks ago. I wanted a 14', found out about the 16's and now one is in my driveway at below invoice. I leave on vacation tomorrow but already looking forward to coming home!

I let my wife drive it home from the dealership but I took on the 20 min. drive home from the bank. First impressions; infotainment was pretty easy to navigate. Felt like I had it dialed in within 5 min. or so. Paired my phone (Android Nexus 4) and all my contacts uploaded. Made a phone call via Bluetooth to my insurance company. Sounded like her voice was coming out of a tin can but I had no trouble hearing her and she didn't seem to have trouble hearing me. I couldn't get the Pandora app to work but I could play Pandora from my phone and control it through the system if that makes any sense. Very peppy car, seemed even more so than I remembered from the test drive. Lane departure went off a few times when I don't think it should have. Still getting used to the blind spot monitoring. I've always had the little circles and having a hard time trusting the tech. Daytime running lights look awesome. Sound was pretty good but I've heard so so reviews on BOSE (Buy Other Sound Equipment). I'll need to play with the settings. Lighting on the instrument cluster looked cool. Infotainment navigation from down my the armrest was awesome.

Anyways if anybody has any specific questions fire away. I'll post more when I get back. Cheers!!!!

Wow definitely nice choice looks like a picture from a magazine. So how did you get such a good deal on this car? Did you know anyone at the dealership that helped you out? Did you use any tricks to get the deal? Lastly if you don't mind what was the final price and what are you paying monthly? Thanks - Conn

I got the price b/c I received a false quote on-line. The manager of the salesman that gave me the quote said he wanted to make it right (I wasn't even complaining) so he offered me the car at an employee discount. He made it clear that he was only doing this for me and that he had sold 1 other 2016 and that was at MSRP. All the dealerships around me were skeptical to say the least when I said I had a quote at $30,200. Most said they could not touch that price, some said they could come close. I ended up getting it for $29,674. $32,400 or so OTD. I got 2.2% from my bank over 6 years and delayed the first payment 90 days so $485 a month or pretty close to that.

Do you know if they made any changes to the seats? Is it comfortable to drive? How was wind and road noise? I like the look and color of the new 2016. I was about to make the move and buy a 2015 but now I might just wait. I'm also interested in what the improvements to the AWD could be.

I would have to replace my tires on my 2004 RAV4 2WD in the mean time. Also here in Colorado, it would probably be easier to sell my 2WD in summer instead of winter.

I know the rear seats are a tad longer in the legs for added comfort. I don't know about the front seats. Yes, very comfortable to drive so far but other than a couple short test drives I only have 20min behind the wheel. Same for wind and road noise, I didn't notice it much but I'll be able to tell more once I get on the freeway.

So I just put her through the paces a bit. There is a road in my backyard called Trabuco Canyon Road. It's very popular with motorcycle owners (past Indian owner myself) b/c it largely resembles an S with beautiful trees over hanging. There is a biker bar called Cooks Corner at an intersection at the beginning/end of the road depending on which way you are going. Anyways I got loose on that road tonight. Now I've been driving pick up trucks almost all my life and I'm 44. I rented a late model Corvette last year for a trip up the 1 to Monterey. Decided then and there I wanted a sports car b4 I get too old to enjoy it so I'm tracking the Tesla Model 3 but that's another story.

All I can say is that this CX-5 was a BLAST on that road! My wife said She felt like she was 20 again. I was hugging those curves, crossing over lanes, gunning it on the straight aways etc...I was pushing the limits of my driving ability which I'm sure isn't much but I was coasting in to curves, accelerating half way through etc...Anyway I never anticipated an SUV could handle like that, although I admittedly have little to compare it to. We removed the headrests, folded the seats down, opened the moonroof and layed in the back for a while out in the "forest" and really just enjoyed the experience. It was awesome.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the auto-dimming high beam function did not work. I checked before we left that the option was enabled b/c I knew it would be a perfect scenario for that but I had to keep turning them on/off manually. Hopefully I just missed something in the set up

It's good to hear that not every American wants a cushy ride over a ride that provides an engaged experience that makes you feel one with the experience.

Enjoy your new CX-5 (and have a good vacation)!

I can't comment on the auto-dimming function. But I do remember in about 1975 I took a ride home from a friends 12th birthday party in his fathers Cadillac. It had the first auto-dimming feature and it was new and amazing (for a young child). But it really didn't work that well. Personally, I like to dim my high beams well before any automatic system could detect the need because the human eye can see the lights approaching before any automatic system can detect them. It could be a good back-up in case you forget so you should get it checked out.

That's awesome - great description!

You can now build and price a 2016 CX-5 on http://www.mazda.ca

Looks like my lease payments are 40$ less than MSRP, which is unexpected, on a fully loaded Soul Red Mica. (nana)

Yeah it's the Blue Reflex. It's the color I wanted but the wife wanted the Soul Red which I think looks great also.

Off topic the Salesman said they bringing back the RX-7 and the Speed3. Not sure if that's common knowledge or not.

So after 2.5 hours at the dealership and the black not being there (transfer from another dealership) I bought red instead. Quite like it. Bad picture but this is the weather we are having.

I should add that I tested USB with my iPhone and still no text messages. It did show my album art through USB and it does NOT through BT. Which is kind of a pi$$ off. Overall happy so far.

I remember Trabuco Canyon Road. I grew up in Anaheim and during my high school days we would drive out Trabuco Canyon to the old campground (built by the CCC) and party hearty until the Orange County Sheriff would come out in the middle of the night and chase us all out of there. That was a long, long time ago.

After seeing the new updates for the 2016 I have decided to delay my purchase of 2015 CX-5 and wait for the 2016's to hit the lots. I know I will be paying over MSRP (if you include the dealer scam fees) but I think it will be worth it. I hope I don't have to wait to long.

I'm looking forward this summer to hitting the dirt roads around Crested Butte , Telluride, and Ouray with my new CX-5 and enjoying the incredible scenery in those areas.

Their black is pretty nice, but that red is a head turner. And even nicer with the snow highlighting it.
That's making me rethink what we are going to get...

Does anyone know how long it takes after the new models come out before they will start discounting them? I have been waiting on the 2016's and will need to buy in late March/early April... any chance things will settle a bit by then or am out out of luck? (hi)
