2003.5 MAZDASPEED
Hey guys, noticed there was no real conversations goin on so i figured i would start one.

Lets just see who is out there.
WHere they are from?
Year model, color of your car.
Mods.
Most and least favorite thing about the car.
Over all opinion of the car.
Other cars you have/had and how they compare

Ill start.

Kris,
i am from flint and southfield area.
i have a 03.5 laser blue mazdaspeed
Just a CAI ( car is 2 weeks old)
Best: I love the handling
Worst: I hate all the noises the car makes
I love the car, i just wish it were RWD.
Future mods: Exhaust, Intercooler, lowering springs.
I had a BMW 318TI and it was awesome but nothing like the MSP.

my name matt,
from dearborn, clarkston, farmington
03.5 msp/Sunlight silver/#374
Bone Stock
Future mods: none planned, i like the car the way it is.
Best thing about the car is the handling and fun factor.
Previous car was a 98 SVT Contour.
this car was a blast, had a little more power and i thought it was a great handling car; until i test drove the MSP

No complaints, i love my MSP, it is a great car for the money.

<<< is my name
I live in Oxford.
03 Laser blue P5
aem intake, twm gen 2 shifter, nothing else (it's my daily)
handling is the best thing
tiny washer reservoir, lack of power, and the back window that never stays clean are the annoying things

I like the car, for what it is.

I've had:
91 S-10 (v6)
89 240SX
94 Sonoma (4 banger)
92 Talon TSI awd

Obviously it handles better than the trucks, the Sonoma had a similar lack of power, the 240 was better balanced, but this handles better overall, and it doesn't compare to the Talon, but that isn't stock.

my name is jeffbeute
i drive a 03 black mica msp
i have a dual pillar with boost and oil press. and kart boy bushings

Location:hudsonville mi

favorite thing about my msp...: autocrossing and beating my friends wrx...:D
least fav. clunk clunk clunk

my name is jophus
i'm originally from Chicago, but no i live in the burbs :(
i'm paying on a 2003 Laser Blue P5
mods are listed in my sig.........
i used to drive a 97' plymouth neon, so the P5 in a huge upgrade. i love my car besides the damn pocket and gauge window that rattle. my favorite thing about my car is the color and overall feel of it.
thanks for asking....

My name is Iavor
I live in Sunnyvale, CA
I drive a White '99 Miata Leather Package
Mods: Ebay STB, tires - Yoko ES100s, Lanny's alignment

I like the neutral handling of the Miata as compared to any other car, it no longer feels like the car is fighting the turns, rather, the car LIKES the turns and if I need to get the car to turn all I have to do is modulate the throttle a bit and it turns like a champ. The brakes are beyond excellent and have saved me from a deer or two before :)
All in all there's a lot of feel involved in driving the Miata. As my dad put it when he first drove it: "It's connected to your brain." There's a certain relationship between the Miata and its driver that only Miata owners understand :)

I dislike the fact that the car is so small and there's so little interior room, but that's to be expected in a roadster so it's not really a big issue, all I need to do is take some turns and I quickly remember why I bought the car in the first place. I used to have 2 x 12" Rockford Fosgates in my Protege so you can see where I'm coming from.

Used to drive a 2002.5 Protege ES that had a Injen CAI and H&R springs. The Protege understeered off a cliff and flipped a few times... How it compares to the Miata? The steering is a lot slower, you can FEEL that it's nose-heavy when turning, understeer, the engine is quite gutless in the upper RPM engine, whereas the BP motor LIVES in the upper RPM range. The shifter on the Miata is AGES ahead of the sloppy Protege gear lever. As a matter of fact I've yet to feel a shifter that feels as good as the Miata's. Can you say "click-click"?

I also have a 1988 Cadillac Brougham D'Elegance that is sitting on the street and barely ever gets looked at. 180k miles on the Caddy and still going. 245lbs-ft of torque at 2000 rpm is also nice (as that poor 20th AE GTI owner found out one night).
Need I compare? The Caddy is a boat, plain and simple. It was made for comfort and that's where it excels. Freeway driving over 85 mph feels like you're floating on thin air (haha, because you are, the caddy has an air ride). I've taken it on a drive to Vegas before (11hr trip) and I would do it again. Try that in a Miata. Handling in the Caddy? LOL Let's just put it this way, the Miata steering is 2.7 turns lock to lock, the Caddy is almost 4.

My name is Kyle.
I live in New Milford, CT.
I have a 2002 Protege DX.
Mods..AEM-SRI, Sparkco Wires/NGK Plugs, Bosal 2.4" Full exhaust system w/ no cats, Magnaflow axle-back, Kartboy SS, Kartboy bushings, MP3 Springs, MP3 Ecu, MP3 Strut bar, Painted headlights, Painted Valve cover, lots of more stuff to come.

Previous cars were a pontiac sunbird, a mazda 626, a '78 y-82 T/A, and a '91 GMC Syclone. The T/A and syclone were project cars, rarely driven, so obviously there is no real comparrison. The 626 was decent, has the same motor I have now. The protege is a great car. I orginally purchased a 2003.5 Titanium MSP, but due to 400$ car payments and 400$ insurance payments, I opted to turn the keys in. I picked up the DX just out of frustration and lack of availability. Its still a great car though. Handles well, roomy, and has a some pep to it.
