Which type of gas/fuel/octane?

I dont think octane would have anything to do with how much fuel is added, the gas pedal does that. The octane only manages compression combustion.

to some extent octane can control the amount of fuel used, because the computer will cut back the fuel injected each revolution. this is especially true on long road trips where you are cruising at a fairly constant RPM and are not putting a ton of load on the engine. the computer will continue to cut fuel and lean out the mixture until it begins to detect detonation. at this point it will ramp up the fuel mixture a hair. this is why it is a bad idea to floor it after cruising on the highway for hours. i have actually experienced this first hand, when i drive from school back home i drive about 400 miles on the freeway. traditionally i get about 315 miles miles out of a full tank (about 13 gallons) on my drive home, i can easily get 390-400 miles out of a tank. this increases even more when i use an octane booster.
as soon as the actual mixture of the fuel is changed all this goes out the window. you can get higher octane fuel by adding ethanol, but this will kill fuel mileage because etOH has a lower energy density then gasoline.

Crap! Ive never seen 93 octane over here in vegas...ive heard that Arco has 100 octane but ive never tried finding it. Ima start looking for 93 from now on...mmm

WOW, I usually get 200 miles on 91(gah), But I also have only had my 09 for 3 months and I'm still in the getting everywhere fast because I can phase, I keep telling myself to drive it slow for 1 tank to see how many miles I can get out of it but it never happens.

ive had the car for 2 years and have never gotten more than 300 miles to a tank unless im on a road trip

^^^Yea same here...i always get like 270 miles a tank and thats shifting at 2500-3000rpm and not smashing on it..

Lol I guess I'm a hyper miler then!!! Where I go to school is very flat, and I usually short shift it during my daily commute. The best mileage I've ever gotten was on a drive home going down interstate 5 in California (another very flat very straight road). I was at 395 when the fuel light went on. I had just crossed 403 miles when I finally found a station. I was running average if 68mph and filled up a little over 13 gallons. Maybe I had a good tailwind or something that day!! When I am back home in Santa Barbara I usually get around 250 mpt but there are lots of elevation changes and twisty roads there

they forgot to put a turbo in your car

That's funny! I don't think I've got LESS then 300 since I had the car! And it used to get better milage when I first got the car (like 27 mpg)

Makes me wonder if the guy before me did something special - like synthetic oil or something (DIFFERENT TOPIC!!!)

I would imagine you do a lot of flat highway driving, right? That helps a lot...

Here in GA we have 93, but everything here has the "can contain 10% ethanol" note. The ethanol is used as an affordable octane booster, to a certain extent, by the gas companies. I would love to try and run E85, but it would require some heavy fueling. I have seen some Subby's running 28+ lbs of boost on big turbo cars with E85. Gas mileage would suck since you have to run afr's in the 8:1 range.
