So just curious... which day and night Map Colors (themes) do you prefer for your TomTom?

does this mean we can change the colors!? Or do you mean choosing between day/night/auto?

Colors. Tap your screen to open the menu, go into Settings, scroll two pages (I think) over... look for Map Colors. It'll let you pick a "theme" for day and one for night :)

I changed mine yet again, I selected the pointer that indicates your vehicle to now be a red car (hehehe) and am using the grey theme for day and 'asia' for night.

I noticed the other day that when I drove through a work site where they are building a new freeway; for a 200 metre stretch, the tomtom changed from the 3D view to a different view that looked like what you see on a car game, with buildings etc on it and arrows that changed colour depending on traffic flow.

It was odd as I did not know it had a live feed, then past the building site it stopped and went back to the usual 3D view with no live updates.

i downloaded the 'google map' colors from tomtom home, and the millenium falcon for the icon (yes i'm a nerd)
i set my wifes to the same colors but she gets mario kart as her icon

Thanks for the ideas! I grabbed an icon for a Gray CX-5 :)

I see we can also create our own themes using an editor from: http://www.colorschemeeditor.com/

Works pretty well, I was at least able to get rid of distractions like how it normally shows different colors for industrial zones, cities, parks, etc. And I removed railroads too. I just like to see roadways on a bland green background so it's easier to read at a glance.

I've been playing with a Themes Editor for TomTom, as I don't really like the ones that came with it. I don't like distractions; I like to just know where the land, water and roads are (and not all the different zones like urban, woods, etc.), so I made my own themes (see attached) that are easier to read at a glance. If anyone else wants to try 'em, feel free ;) Just drop the files from the Zip into the "Schemes" folder on your SD card to make them available in Settings/Map Colors.

Boring but easy to read. I distinguish between local roads, highways and interstates (not shown). The main idea was to get rid of all the different "area" shades (urban, woods, park, etc.) which drove me nuts (pun intended lol). I stole the colors from my old Garmin.

EDIT: Night theme. Tricky, because white text washes out against bright roads, but dark roads blend into dark backgrounds... so the only option seems to be the "outlined" dim road colors:
