Which headlights to choose?

I am trying to keep my MS3 in warranty for as long as possible.... so I am not installing HIDs. The problem is that the factory yellow lights really bother me. My Integra had a 10k and it looked fabulous!! I have bought cheap ebay bulbs in the past and they aren't worth it.

Does anyone know any good bulbs I can buy that will give me a clean 10k-ish color?

The Hoen look excellent for price and output. I know I'm vain, but I want a bit of blue in the light.

I was looking at the luminics pure blue. They look too blue in online pics, but my Teg's 10k HIDs always photographed a lot bluer than they are in person. Does anyone know if these are just a hint of blue, or if they are "pap smurf" blue?

just get the 10k kit from here it is $135 and i have then in my jeep and love them for how much they cost i can see how anyone could think not to do it. You can just put them in you oem headlights too. http://www.xenonlink.com/?gclid=CJ_h2bvSipMCFQ0ePAodxX1H9A

the best light output while sticking with stock type wattage is via toshiba HIR bulbs - check the bottom of this page- http://www.rallylights.com/hella/9005.asp and 9006 are http://www.rallylights.com/hella/9006.asp. HIR bulbs are not uber white, but they actually give off the most light, literally, unlike most bulbs that only color the light to make it seem like they are brighter. The only downside to the technology is there is a hair less life in them compared to the best traditional performance bulbs. Still not bad; i've been using them in my fogs since January, about 7000 miles and my lows and fogs are on every time i drive.

Hella makes a bulb that puts out a very white light and has a decent lumen count (actual light produced), but leaves a bit of a blue reflection in the housing - http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hel...Products/Performance_Lighting/Bulbs/Bulbs.jsp

these bulbs are the reason the silverstar ultra was conceived, to be able to hang with the Hella offerings.

to those who claim short life from the silverstars, that is very unusual. they typically show rather long life. maybe not the life of a stock type bulb, but they certainly have the engineering to outlive most aftermarket bulbs, especially in DOT wattage levels.

on the lower end, two companies are around that offer pretty good quality bulbs for the price- Optilux and Nokya. They are both Korean made; the XP is the DOT wattage offerings from Optliux and gives a mostly white light with a slight hint of purple. Nokya offers their Arctic white in DOT wattage- these are slightly blue, mostly white.

I disagree with that. Maybe your opinion but i love my 10,000k hid's its all about how you aim them.

Actually, silverspeed03 is more correct. Even though you think you're getting a lot of light, you've actually decreased the output considerably. Standard HID light outputs at 4300K to 6000K depending on the gas mixture. To reach anything higher (8000K to 12000K) they must coat the outside of the bulb. Coating the bulb filters out all the other colors except blue and purple (so most of the only light you're really illuminating is in the blue/purple wavelengths).

Even though blue lights look cool, they are actually fatiguing your eyes considerably. This is because the blue wavelength is shorter and therefore has a higher frequency than say red light (which is what astronomers/military, stargazers and photographers use during the night). Blue wavelength also causes more glare especially in moisture because the wavelength is close to the size of the moisture particles in the are. The lower frequency lights (like yellow) are longer than the particles and therefore shine right through them.

For an excellent write up on this, check the HIDo's & HIDon'ts - The HID Lighting Tutorial over at the "mazda 3 forums" website.
