nothing really, i guess, just experience with them and all, thats why im gauging opinions

get an OEM one.. never get vented.. :) I found that out the hard way...
(water + power steering pulleys = SUCKS)

hm.. I hear DG has the best quality ...

the GC one I have is flawless too.. no snags.. perfect weave.. I have the blue kevlar weave though..

personally...i have the GEMINI COMPOSITES CF REV. COWL HOOD...and i love it.....as for the vent...i have no problems with mine...because gemini composites....gives you the option of a VENT GUARD.....to sill off the vent when it does rain so nothing gets wet.....they even drilled the hole for me so the water that is caught in the vent guard can drain out.....they drilled the hole over the raiator so no wires..or anything like that can be effected by the water

so if it was my choice i would go with the GEMINI hood...great quality...good fitment...no problems!!!

i have a vented cf hood and i do like how it lets off the heat. as for the rain, there have been a few times when it was a nice day and while i was out it started raining. i didn't have the rain gaurd in but there was no damage done to anything.

I dont know if you are being an asshole putting the obvious s*** in bold.. I have the vent guard.. with holes drilled...

ass. The bolts broke off and it sags on the ends. thats where the majority of the water spills.. esp when taking turns.

hmm so fiber images are slow huh....right now im leaning towards Gemini's OEM CF....have to see

I was reading on the Gemini website and saw this info:

Our Mazda Carbon Fiber Hoods and Carbon/Kevlar Hoods are well known for their excellent fitment and high quality finish. Our hoods feature:

* Beautiful weave patterns with rolled, not cut edges

* Smooth high gloss finish

* Full factory-style under frame

* Aluminum reinforcement in all hinge and latch areas

* Plated steel latch mounted with flat head machine screw for a clean, smooth look

* All holes for hinges and latches drilled and tapped for perfect fit / washer holes drilled by request/

* Frames are fiberglassed /not glued/ to the carbon skin for maximum safety / our hoods have been track tested to 250 km/hr or 155 miles/hr with-out hood pins

**** Ive heard mixed opinions about this FG frame under CF topping??

I might shell out another $100 and get the V-Weave...

Dont think I'll be getting the Fiber Images, i think the wait time is like 4-6 Weeks, just to be made, then it still has to be shipped, thats too long for me, id need it in 4 weeks the longest.. hmmmm

if you want flashy, go with gemini... but if you want the clean oem look go with dgm. my 2 cents.

I should have my Gemini reverse-cowl in a few weeks .. but from what I've read about them, they're awesome.

As for the issues with the vent cover, I think it's because people aren't using them 'right'. My bad if I'm misinformed, here -- but I believe the vent cover comes WITHOUT any holes drilled unless you specifically ask. I think some people are having problems with theirs falling off because they aren't drilling any holes, so water is accumlating in the vent cover, and then the water weight eventually becomes to much for the bolts -- and kerthud, the vent cover falls off.

I'm planning on drilling a hole in the vent cover and running some tubing down through my engine bay, so that the water is drained without ever really touching anything. If you haven't decided on a hood by then, AOD, I'll be happy to let you know how it turns out.

Good luck!

NP thanks, Ill most likely be going with Gemini, but whatever brand i go with, Ill be going for the OEM style, not really into grilled ones.
