Ok so I am having a friend make me custom intercooler piping with a custom frount mount core. I am having him relocate my mass air flow sensor. We are going to route the piping like the perrin kit. He also does powdercoating we are gonna try and match the msp yellow as best as possible for the hard piping. My problem is that I cant decide on which bov to go with. I have three that I am stuck with. greddy RS, greddy type S (if I can find one), or the turbo XS. What do you all think? Opinions please.........

Thanks guys.

Get a type S if you can find one. The difficulty of sourcing one makes it all the cooler to have one. Greddy RS is whooshy, but built better than the Type S and with more flow capability. Turbo XS is cool too but I dont know much anything other than the Type RFL. RFL is nice if u like the quick whoosh. It releases air really fast, its almost like a pop. So it looks you have 3 choices of BOV with 3 totally different sounds. Choose a sound and boost away.

SARD apparently sounds like a laser from what I've heard, a really unique sound. The blitz DD also looks/sounds great.

SARD is a new name to me. I personally am waiting on my HKS SSQV but I prefer the "whistle" tone from them. Plus I like the overall diaphram design. If it wasnt the SSQV it would DEFINATELY be the Type RS/S. Im gonna go look at the SARD now...

I don't think you'll like the RS, it's designed for higher boost. It has a much large valve than the type S, I'd go type S if you can find one but I also like the RFL if you really want a loud BOV.

yeah a type rs BOV is for higher boost as mentioned above. I have Type S and love it since most of the civics neons and sti's around here have a woosh sounding BOV its nice having one that wistles all day. i thought about switching to RFL but my girlfriend says she would miss my car wistling. so we'll see.....you can here mine here..

this is not my car. cant rember whos it is. but mine sounds exactly the same. it sounds like this when i rev up at idle too. i just can figure out how to shoot a vid under 3 meg for some reason. anywho greddy rs ftw! i even get a little o that greddy type s whistle at low boost cruising.

what would be a replacement for the type S?
something that sounds like it???

soon enough i will have the hard piping done and i would like to have a BOV by then
thnx

ive tried 4 bov's
Greddy rs
hks ssqv
turbo xs rfl
turbo xs type h

and the loudest has been the rfl but sweetest sounding one i prefer is the hks ssqv.

dear god I have a feeling that I'm going to change BOVs as much as I change shift knobs.. they're just a lot more pricey :P

I think I'd like a nice "pssh" or like a cough-type sound (a woosh perhaps?). I need to ride in more turbo cars. It is so hard to detect the sound of my roommates Volvo 940SE with it's T25.. I'm almost positive his stock one (at 225k miles.. FTW!) recircs so I'm sure that changes the sound quite a bit.
