they rarely have any launches on saturdays. they do have a scheduled launch on february 26th which is a saturday but its at 6:21am. sure would be a pretty morning. http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/launches/launchDetails.asp?calendarId=235

I saw the schedule. Even it it was on a saturday, it could be scrapped if a seagul takes a dump on the window. But since nothing will be on a launch pad, anyone know of cool stuff we can get the cars around for a pic? Does anyone really intend to tour this?

Another good place to have it would be Ballard Park. It's in Melbourne on the Indian River. Decent size place, plenty of parking, BBQ grills, nice view, basketball courts, and bathroom facilities.

If we do it on the day of a launch, I will not go to KSC for a meet. I don't want to sit in traffic for 3-4 hours just to see something that I see on a regular basis. A better option would be to meet at Cherie Down park in Cape Canaveral. It's the furthest north park before the space center that has plenty of free parking, and offers what I think is an even better view.

There's also Riverside Park in Cocoa. It's right on the river in Cocoa Village. It's a nice drive along the river and pretty good location for people as it's right near Highway 1 and SR 520.

If people want to surf, we can meet down at Pineapple Park. It's a ocean park, with free parking, good facilities, and better waves than in Canaveral. Just watch out for those rocks. Or if we have some serious riders, we could have the meet at Long Point park, then surf at Sebastian Inlet.

The Viera mall is a good location in that it's right off I-95. Craploads of parking and some good resturaunts in the area.

As for an after hours event, we could probably do something at my house provided it's not like 30 cars parked out front.

this is gonna be fun!!! can't wait, whereever you guys go i'll go...prolly not the beach (i'm not a surfer so....) the park by the rivers sounds hella nice!!

and the after

well, depeding on how many people go, we could leave some cars in a near parking lot at a mall or something, then get rides or someone else's msp...
just a thought....guess you are worried about how many cars go to your house and not how many people :)

This is nice to see even more interest in another meet! Melbourne sounds nice since I can't ever remember a acual meet there and I think Scott has supported all meets enough he deserves one in his back yard! I will be at this one so lets get on with it! 18 votes won't be topped so I think we could make it official!

It's just an issue of there not being much room. There's enough cars in my driveway as it is, and spaces in the street seem to be a premium these days. So what we could do is park down at my workplace (plenty of room on the weekends, and about a mile and a half from my house), then carpool over to my place. Don't know how many people I can accomodate, but i wouldn't mind having people over.

Ballard park and Riverview park are both really nice. Riverview Park is a bit nicer, but Ballard Park has more parking and more room to do stuff. But I'll try and get down to both of them later this week and take some pictures of various spots around here so everyone can decide what looks like it would be the best.

sounds like a plan to me, if you need help planning, count me in...i'll even drive there early if needed...

Awesome, I'll let you know.

I'm probably going to need 2 or 3 people to help me set stuff up.

The park spunds sweet. BBQ and a place to go and meditate. I am there.

I can bring a cooler, ice, a flat of chicken thighs, BBQ tools, and a thing of BBQ sauce.

Another thing I thought we could do if people wanted. Have a nice meet somewhere in the Melbourne area like we're planning, then afterwards, we can have a BBQ at my house. I can cook up some burgers and hot dogs on a real grill, we can have cold beer (or soda for the under 21ers), and enjoy the afternoon/evening with friends.

I also have a garage, plenty of tools, a decent hydraulic jack, and so forth if anyone wants to install stuff on their Mazda while we're there. Kinda help each other out sorta thing.

Scott, Let me know what I can do to help you out? If you need any foot work done or something arranged. (hear ya)

Steve

any closer to setting a date for this yet?

i might just make use of your garage and help of those who show up to install a cat-back exhaust for my 3 if it's mid-jan or so:)

load 'o pics, nice write up for a how-to etc etc

sounds like a good idea anyway, shoot it down if you must..

that is, if i can wait that long to get the exhaust bought and installed lol (crazy)
