Where to Live?

You CAN live in Cali cheap if you want to. I know people that do. I told myself when I left that I'd be back when I'm making six figures :)

I say stick to a coast because the ocean helps moderate the temperatures. Large bodies of water like lakes also help but around the great lakes you have lake effect snow. I love Chicago but that's probably still too cold.

if i were u i would go to florida. i love it there!! Va isnt all that bad except for all the stupid laws they have about mods you can do on your car.

Example?

Come to NJ!! Cold winters and hot summers..but both managable! Plus, we have beaches and many fine attractions(Six Flags, Seaside, Atlantic City, New York City)....

similair law in Nh, no modification tot eh vehical is legal not even a radio upgrade. But its the same that it is completely ignored for the most part. However unfactory lighting is definitly enforced, blue head lights or underbody kits, especialy blue, yellow or red is strongly enforced.

Tinting is specificly enforced by seperate law. Basicly none is allowed.

I don't know how I feel about NJ.
I would realy like to move to an inexpensive place to live becuase I will have a good sum saved up for a house down payment. NJ is still very expensive, worse so then NH and you can only get a condo or a broken down house for 150,000 up here.
Not to mention I hate cities.
Althouhg I know no state is all urban.

come to va for sure! I've lived here for 4 years now and yeah winter sucks but it's not too bad and we only had maybe 4 inches of snow this winter all together.

We had that in Feet in January alone!
Like I said befor esnow is no problem its cold that pisses me off.

well, it cant be perfect all the time. From my experience having lived up and down the east coast ( from NY to Fl) Va is the happy medium. I still cant wait to be back in florida though. Nothing like Spring Break in daytona!! say, is anyone going down there for the car show this year...march 21-23 ..i know i will be there!! cant wait!

Over the past 22 Years i have concluded one thing.
I HATE NEW ENGLAND.

Winters mostly. Falls can suck too with the leaf peeping assholes.

Well so far I have been considering Va but nothing is totaly out of the question. Far south like SC or Fl would probably get to hot for me. I ain't used to that crap. Mid America seems to be the best for me, warmer but not a dramatic amount. Plus I can't go to far from NewEngland since my girlfriend will probably have a nervous breakdown.

Well Let the suggestions fly, Its time to REPRESENT!

I have some bad news for you....IF you were to move far enough south to get yourself out of the nasty or potentially nasty winters.....you WILL have heat in the summers to deal with....and unless you go to the southWEST.....Hurricanes too!

Why has Fl stuck with you so much and where are you originaly from?

The only thing I dislike about the winter is the intense cold. It gets alot better even in Delaware, my aunt always gives us crap about the cold up here. Summer for the most part doesn't bother me. When I visited Clemson in SC I was the only one not dying from the heat and I was the only non SC resident.

I don't live there, but my sister does and I've visited a couple of times - Charleston SC. Beautiful city, everybody is nice and helps each other out, and quite cheap (her and fiance pay about $800/month for a palace of a place). Honestly, it was worse in Wisconsin for heat these past 2 summers than it was in Charleston according to my sister. Winters rarely get colder than 30s at night. Minutes from the beach, TONS of history. Oh, and the itty bitty hurricanes got you scared? :). I'd love to have some ****** hurricanes. Its like a get out of work free pass. Just get some hurricane insurance. I'm considering moving there for the same reasons. I'm sick of Wisconsin winters.

Hurricanes don't bother me at all, they just tend to do a hell of alot more damage down there. I been through sveral class 4s so not a worry thing, more of hoping the houses aren't constructed like crap thing.

Heh, come on down to Mississippi...

It doesn't get very cold, it's hot as Seething Death (read 200% humidity) in the summer, cheap as freakin' hell to live, and if you can read you're smarter than 50% of the adult population!

Wooohoo!!!!

Nice, one problem
FLOODS! Although I doubt all of Miss could flood.
Seeing my house float away, forget that.
I will not be one of these dipships on the news cryibng that there house is flooded when they new damn well they lived in a flood zone. Or there house slid away from a land slide becuase it was built on a dirt hill. Or the house went 200 ft in the air becuase they lived in the tornado belt.

All I can say is to stay away from Pittsburgh, PA. It hasn't been as cold as up there, but we still get a ton of snow...lake effect snow manages to find it's way here too often. Housing is pricy, so you move to the suburbs where it is cheaper, then you have to put up with 75,000+ people all trying to get into a city through two tunnels that only have 2 lanes through them. Everyone has to stop (why I do not know) as they approach them. Travelling to work that normally takes 45 minutes, during rush hour (usually 3 hours long) takes 1.5 hours. That is each way. Tornados have been becoming more frequent the past few years and everyone has an attitude. I love my job too!

I am trying to move to Winston-Salem or Charlotte N.C. Jobs are a bit tough to find there though.
