I'm working in lower Manhattan now, and the commute is too long to be comfortable. It takes an hour and a half via train & subway (I save about 10 minutes by taking the PATH from Newark over to the WTC, but it's always crazy crowded, tough to get a seat for the fairly long ride (25 minutes), and it's depressing circling Ground Zero, so I only take that when the NJ Transit train is running late).
So I'm starting to research a new place to live, closer to the city. NJ or NY, doesn't matter. Here's my requirements (this is what makes it tough):
1. 2 bedroom apt in the ~$1200-$1500 range (with roommate that only makes it $600-$750/month for rent)
2. No more than 45 minutes commute to Battery Park (my subway stop needs to be South Ferry on the 1, Bowling Green on the 4/5, or Whitehall St on the R/W).
3. Free, safe, parking, or garage/private parking for no more than $150-$200 a month
4. Not a run-down area
5. Prefer to be near other young professionals
So yeah....there you go. I know it's going to be tough finding a place with all that, but I was just wondering if anyone had anything in mind.
