A real nice one that is more sturdy could definitely be made for under a $100 as posted earlier.

Also Ronin, give this place a call: http://www.usejacks.com and ask them if they have any Protege5s on the lot because you're looking for an interior panel. If they've got one that's been in an accident it will prolly still have the rear deck lid inside.

I had talked to Slowpro about his cause he wants your sub set-up( i think), but I think I might be trading something for his when he is ready. I am not 100% sure so I will keep it in mind. If it was built it would be neat (I think) to have something written(or raised letters) on it i.e. NEPOC (thumb)

My used '02 P5 did not come with the hatch lid. I've asked around a few times without much luck to see if anyone wanted to part out. I mainly wanted one so it would hide my sub. But honestly, with the tint on the back glass and the sub being dark colored you really can't see anything back there. Maybe all you need to do is tint the windows. The price I saw on the forums (from someone who worked in parts at a Mazda dealership) was $175 IIRC. No way I'm paying 2 C-notes for that.

i plan on buying materals this friday and see how it goes on fabricating this thing if im successfull in putting one together and make look decent ill post it for sale depending on my cost and time. if theres a demand on it i will start taking orders.

I had posted a WTB thread for one and there is someone forum name "yourfatherluke" that had one. He is in california so shipping for me would be a hassle plus I might have a lead on a local one. Pm him and try to work out a deal being in AZ you're a lot closer

i decided to make it out of fiber glass just becuase i think it will be easier to shape.

here is my mold will start construction on this soon... i will try it out with carbon fiber also. if your intrested let me know this would be more for you guys who have all the carbon fiber trim. if everything goes right too i will take orders for custom colors. colored vinyle, carpet, etc.

I take mine out regularly, it gets in the way when hauling large things.

Whenever I go skiing I take it out. It's so much easier to put the skis in there without it in place.

i guess i see reasons for taking it out, just seams i havent needed to because i just put stuff on top of it and underneath (of course little light things on top)

i always have to take mine out and in. i transport all kinds of stuff. rims, tables, coolers, 5galon tanks and jugs,multiple boxes, iv fit 3 sets of 17" rims in my car once... i havnt had time to do the cover yet due to the fact that one of my shiftleaders quit on us so i have to train a bunch of new employees my self and pick up the shifts he left open...

edit: but i hope to get staqrted soon so i can try out the carbon fiber thing
