Where to find performance parts for a 1.6L protege

I have a 1.6L protege, so far I have installed a cold air intake but that's about it after maintenance. I am rebuilding a 1.6L from the scrapyard and I would like to install some more aggressive cams or get different headers but I can't seem to find anything. Does anyone know where to find these type of mods or does it not exist for this engine.

there's nothing at this point... anything that barely existed is long gone

the 1.6 never had any love, even though it's a well designed and strong motor... just anemic... anything you want to do is best custom made at this point

personally, I would just buy a parts car and swap to a bigger engine rather than spending money on rebuilding a 1.6 if you care about going faster

That's unfortunate, I'm mainly rebuilding it because I like the engine and how reliable it's been and because I got a good deal on the engine. Just thought I would try and get a little power out of it if I could. Thanks for your advice!

you can, but it's either custom or mix and match OEM mazda parts from another mazda engine, such as the miata's 1.6 or the JDM 1.5 version of your engine... none of these are easy or cheap... cheaper to just swap to a bigger engine

I don't deny that the 1.6 is a bulletproof motor, but that's as far as it goes lol
