Where is a Wheel Guide

I'm looking at getting some 17" but I got questions.

1) What does 17x7 or 17x7.5 or 17x8 mean?
2) What is offset?
3) Concerning Tires, what is the diff between 215x45 and 205x45? is 205 the width and 45 the highth?
4) Will 215x45 fit a P5?
5) And recommandations on good tires?

I'm sure all these questions have been asked, but if we can have answers or links to all the questions in one spot is the goal to this thread.

PS if I"m posting in the wrong forum, Mods please move it to the correct spot.

1. 17x7 is 17" wheel 7" wide
2. Offset is measured from the middle point of the wheel to where the hub is located. It can be positive or negative depending on the car.
3. 215mm wide 45 is a sidewall percentage of the total width. So on a 215 the sidewall would be 96.75mm tall aprox.
4. 215/45/16 will...if you go to a 17 you'll need 40(i think thats right...see the thread I listed).
5. Do a search to see what other people are running...Goodyear Eagle F1s are good.

Stock Mazda Protege5 Rims are 195/50/16

If you go 17" you can either go 205/40/17
or
For a more tire nicer ride not as many bumps
205/45/17

I would go with 205/40/17 cause I just wanna look flawless for the ladies

Note: 205/40/17 Will be much more ruff on the road then a 205/45/17 tire also add springs to lower the car... you my friend are gonna have a ruff ride.... But just be watch for potholes etc

Right - when you go with the 205/45/17 you'll have to watch to offset or roll your fenders.

You can also run a 215/40/17. That will give you a bigger contact patch on the road and has a slightly taller sidewall than a 205/40.

It's important to remember, though, that these numbers aren't cut and dry. One tire in a 205/40 might have a taller sidewall than another tire with a 205/45. Two tires that are listed as the same dimensions might fit differently, with one rubbing and one not rubbing.

I am currently running a 17x7 rim with a 42mm offset and 215/40/17 tires. According to the wheel guide, it will rub, but it doesn't at all.

Anyone knows in the mississauga area to fix my stock rims, it has curb rush and little bent
