Hi all,

I just bought a 2002 mazda Protege 5 hatchback last week & I love the car. In the future I intend to do all the maintenence work myself, & I went around looking for a maintence manual like the chilton / haynes type, but i cant find one. Does anyonme know where i can find these types of maintenence manuals? I went to walmart, sears & various auto stores & I cant find one at all.

Thank you

The best one to get is the FSM. Expensive, yes. I paid US $140 for mine at my dealer. It was the first purchase I made after I bought my car. I consider it well worth the money, however.

damn, i would scan it to a text and gfxbased document if somebody gave me a copy _:\

Help? Injectors aren't firing - I think

Hi,
Just swapped the 2.0l engine in my wife's MP5 (sore subject).
Everything went in fine and all hooked up right like it came out. The new engine will fire and run about 3 seconds and then die. If I pour gas in the butterfly valve opening it will run longer so I know its not a spark problem. I figure the injecters aren't firing so I swapped out the fuel rail and injectors with the old moter, swapped out the cam and crank location sensors and while I was at it replaced the coil packs and plug wires... what am I missing? It has to be a fuel system problem...If I pull the fuel line the rail is full of pressurized gas. Argh !!! To get this far and be stuck is killin me.
Anyone can give me a tip?

I need some help!

My Protege 5 is idoling really rough and i got my engine diagnosed today and i got a P0301 error which is an engine misfire in the first piston. I have checked all the plugs and they are fine. i was wondering what else it could be? wires? coils? how would i know?

i just went through this. you can switch the coils and see if the misfire follows it (e.g. you now get misfire in cylinder 3 or 4). Or you can just go ahead and replace coil packs and wires (around $100 for coils and wires from NAPA etc... or OEM which are MUCH more expensive). I just bought my p5 and it did this right off the bat. 60k miles and cold weather seem to bring the worst out in the coils. remedy this sooner rather than later as your cat converters will suffer from the misfires.

same, paied about $120-130, then made the mistake of *loaning* it to another MSP guy.. that never returned it, even after he traded in for a RX-7.
Learned my lesson..

so this floptical appears to be dead, at least for now. is there any restrictions that would prohibit one from using a file host, like google docs, to make the pdf's of the service manual availble to those who may need it?

Think it has died, but have no fear - http://www.scribd.com/doc/44260207/Mazda-Manual <-- i found it here :)

Well...... that's just a Parts Manual......

Have you tried looking at the "3rd Gen Workshop Manual" sticky thread above this forum section you are in now. That links still works. I have linked/uploaded several PDF manuals to my Google Docs account and never had a problem doing so.
