When you're driving and you spot a CX7..

I have now seen about 3 CX7's in my immediate area, a black one, white one, another blue one like mine, but not a GT.
The count is up, I live in Happy Valley, Oregon and it's a small area. Good to see other's out there with good taste. It's kind of cool because when I drive past someone in a CX7 we kind of look at each other with a univeral head nod, and they are like me in that they keep looking at my CX7 in their mirror as I pass them etc. Definitely fun!
What happens when you pass another CX7?

Pretty much the same. I like to see how I look when I go by. Seeing another gives me an idea.

nice:) . Ive seen only 2 and i bought the first one my dealer recieved.
I guess pull up on the side and just RIDE..."unless you feel the need the need for SPEED"(glare)

i really dont do anything. I guess Im just too busy LOOKING AT THE ROAD!!!
hahah j/k I glance but I try not to stare :)

I haven't seen a single-one in my area... but I am torn on the attention mine gets. Part of me thinks it's cool, the other part is irritated. The car gets stares at red-lights and in parking lots - one afternoon, my wife and I came-out to my car to see another couple and their two kids walking around it... as if it were on a dealer lot... looking inside the windows etc.

They seemed rather embarassed as we approached and I even offered to let him look inside... but they just apologized and moved-on.

But I hear comments all-the-time. While I was unloading my gear for a gig in Boston, I heard NUMEROUS couples as they walked by comment on "Hey, now maybe we should look into getting one of THOSE, that's Nice!", etc.

But haven't seen others on the road yet.

I pulled up to a gas station the other day. A guy was in a Porsche Cayane turbo next to me getting gas. He came over and checked the CX7 out and was very impressed. He was like "nice car" then I said "yeah you can buy 4 of mine to 1 of yours", LOL. he was pretty impressed. I seem to get that a lot when other CUV's much more $$$ show up.

I usually give a wave. I had only a couple people wave back....Some of them may have not seen me wave because of traffic.

I've only seen about a handful of 7's where I am. I thought about giving a quick nod, but I'm not sure if the other guys will think I'm weird or something. I use to do it when I had my Integra Type R, but the head nod was almost a universal thing among ITR owners.

I love seeing other 7's driving around. It looks great when it's moving, and especially good when you see the back end and those twin tail pipes pulling away :).

i used to have a msp and since then when i see either a mazdaspeed protege and other special models i make friends with them LOL!!!

Can't say we have waved at each other but I bet were both looking back in our mirrors.....I am at least. In my RX 8 we always waved or gave the peace sign. Seen about three around my area.....silver, black and copper red.

Call me a narcissist, but I'm not one to engage in the "we've got the same car so we should acknowledge each-other" activities. I mean, if someone with the same car looks over and waives, I'm not gonna flip 'em off... I might give a nod of confirmation, but I'm not going to solicit a waive from anybody. :)

Not insulting those of you who DO partake in that... but it's just not me.

You can always do what the *original Beetle* owners did -- flash your headlights. It got to be expected of Beetle owners. Those were the days when Beetles were the only cars on the road with headlight-flashing capability. The other way is to honk your horn twice.

I have a '79 Vette, and while I agree with Cx-7 Scott, I do wave when passing other Vettes. It's a "thing" and it was going on long before I bought my Vette 15 years ago, so when in Rome. But I have yet to see a CX-7 on the road in Michigan. sure, lots of domestics on the road, here, but you'd think I would have seen at least one. As far as staring, people do seem to react to this car. I notice ladies looking at the car a lot more than men....I'm sure they aren't looking at me. But it's not as bad as my 300C. I had one of the first when there were none on the road and everyone stared and flagged me down and asked to sit in it and wanted to talk about it. I was relieved when they finally got more on the road and became "normal" sights. But, so far, I like being the only CX-7 I see. People also universally agree it looks more expensive than it is.

Yeah, I hate 'fessing up what the sticker price is on it.

Are you kidding...? I must be one of the poorer ones here... a $32k sticker is not cheap to me. :)

I was actually looking at the Dodge Caliber (around $17k) but ultimately... the CVT (gearless transmission), lack of options, inferior trim level and style just kept me from going that direction.

You are right... it "appears" to be a more expensive car... but I would never guess it to be in the range of... say... an RX-330 or anything.

sincerely yours,
El Cheapo

It appears your not alone Scott. I'm on the same boat(first)

Most of us have a budget - but the uninformed compare the car to a Lexus, Porsche, or VW Touatag. Just because they all have similar profiles.

Mazda Credit got my payment this week, and it hurt my feelings.:)

OFF-TOPIC: We opted for Chase financing (lower interest)... but found-out that if you want to pay online or by phone... they charge you $10 per transaction. HOLY #&$%!!! I called to complain, but it (obviously) got me nowhere.

The only way to NOT pay a fee is to mail it in as normal, setup an automatic monthly withdrawl OR get a Chase account.

21st century and they are the ONLY creditor I have that CHARGES for online payments. Rediculous.

Sorry - we now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress...
