Ok Guys and Gals,

The book says 3,750. But you hear a lot of different opinions on "break in" and how you should do the 1st change at 1,000 miles because that will get the "break in" microscopic metal bits, particles or shavings out of the engine that have accrued during those miles while the engine parts were learning to work together.

I have heard about this more than a few times to do the 1,000 mile change and then again at 3k -3,750K and resume normal changes from there on......

What do you all think??????(dunno)

I changed my motor oil @ 50 miles, will change again @ 500 miles and then I will switch to synthetic @ 1500 miles.

Here is an interesting read:

Did Mazda tell you that if you had anyone other than their service dept. change the oil it would void your warranty?
HA HA , I used to work for mazda and i have never heard that one, you can have anyone change your oil- chris

When I bought my Focus the dealer service dept. said that if anyone other than Ford changes the oil it will void the warranty. Ive been buying cars since 1990 and I have yet had a dealer tell me that crap.

I would wait till at least 3,000-5,000 miles before you switch to synthetic oil.

I am going to keep the same routine like I have on all my other cars, but thanks for the recommendation

I'll probably do the 1000 mile oil change. Only 10 bucks to do. Couldn't hurt. I'll stick to Dino oil until I have some worthy mods on there to justify the extra cost of synthetic.

$3 bucks more a quart at 4 quarts a change at 1 change every 5000 miles for 50,000 miles = 120 bucks. Rather get a custom exhaust with that money or invest it in cams or headwork..

They are always going to recommend the mimiunum to maintain warranty on the car but if you use better that is up to you. That is all I get from that. Samething if they said you had to use a certain brand.

I will drain at 600, then redline a few time and work the engine, change at 1000 and call it good. Just my way of doing things.
