Ok lets say I get the RX-8 Wheels. On certain sites it says that the stock P5 tire and the RX-8 tire will make my Speedo be off by 9.7% too slow.

So if Im going 60 it will say im only going 54 mph.

how do you fix that?

Answer the question please.
how do you fix that If I get them.
Everyone goes a different route, thats the beauty in life. :)

I know, I was just messin witcha. I personally don't know of a solution, maybe some1 else can help

Not sure about the P5, but my friend with an older camaro had to change some gears in the speedo to adjust it.

will keep the miles off you car's record. your car will hold it's value a little better!

I dunno how old it was, but it may have been a cable driven speedo. Ours are electronic and don't have gears IN the speedo. There's gotta be a sensor somewhere, I dunno if you can adjust it or not.

It was a '84, so yeah definitely cable driven.

Hmm Ill have to find out from the guys that have these wheels on there P5.
thanks again

well basically you have a bigger diameter tire/wheel combo than stock. The diameter of the wheel/tire is what messes up the speed sensor because now you're turning a bigger wheel that has more surface area to cover than your stock wheels...unless you put tires on there so thin that lets the tire/wheel have the same over all diameter of the stock tire/wheel then the only way to prevent is to NOT put 18's on....

You need to get properly sized tires for the wheels. 215/35R18's are 1% off, and probably your best bet, if you want to try. Kumho Ecsta MX's are awesome summer tires, if you want a good set that will fit.

you can probably get a shop to adjust it for you, i would imagine.

and i was just messin with ya...but yea, find a garage and ask them (since its electronic, id think that you could adjust something in the cars computer...but im probably wrong)

Yeah its called a "SPEED SENSOR" and it HAS A Gear on it....Now whether or not they make any other gears that will fit it and correct your situation is another question...I would just get used to where you speedo willk read for the most common speeds...Its not hard to do...You'll get used to it.

I got you!
What about 18x8, how do those fit on the p5?
I know they do becuase 2-3 ppl on here have them.

That speed sensor is in the tranny BTW..ANd the 18 by 8's will probably rub.....ESPECIALLY if youre lowered....you should not go wider than a 7.5'' wheel with a very high offset of somewhere between a +45 and a +50.
