2003.5 P5
I am looking at a set of 17" wheels from a 2004 Infiniti G35. My question is will they fit my 2003 P5? What size tire should I use on these wheels if they do fit? And last but not least is there a specific offset that works best on my car? My P5 has not been lowered!!

Thanks for the help P5ers!

45 - 48 offsett works best, i have 42 offset but im not lowered yet, no rubbing, but i see that if i di lower i will.

Plus u gotta see if the lug pattern is correct. 5x114

its a combination of offset, and wheel width... if you can find the specs we can give you an answer.

My tire size (on stock rims) is 195/50/16...will that fit a wheel 16X7 w/ 40mm offset? Does it matter if the bolt pattern is 5X100 or does it have to be 5X114??

Information on Infiniti wheels

I have found that the specs are as follows:

5x114(.3) with 38-40 backspacing? Does this sound right? And what is the .3 measurement for?

5 x 114.3 is correct... thats 114.3mm. so if the backspacing is 38-40 or so then you are out of luck unless the wheel is 7" wide. otherwise you'll deffinitely rub like crazy

The wheel is 7" wide!!!

Are you saying that the wheel cannot be wider than 7" to fit? If it is wider then 7" it will rub , right? Thanks for your help. What size tire can I fit on these wheels w/o rubbing?

seriously, this is REALLY pushing the outer edge. if you lower at all you'll probably rub anyways. even with a +40 offset.

for safety I would recomend atleast a +42 offset on a 7" wide wheel for a P5.

but if you still really want to do it, then look into having 2-3mm machined off the mounting plate of each wheel (specifically the rears) so you wont have any trouble.

as for tire I would stick with a 205-40-17 on that wheel. if you have a few mm machined off then you might be able to run a 215

Different size wheel?

So what if I could get some 7.5" wheels with a 38-40 backspacing, is that going the wrong direction and causing more rubbing? Or do I just need to stay with a +42 bs on a 7" wide wheel? Thanx

backspacing is not the same thing as offset.

if you meant offest then if you go to a 7.5" wheel you'd want a +48 offset so its going the opposite way. if you meant backspacing then I'd have to calculate it.
