Wheel size question

So I work at a Honda dealership and they have had some random Mercedes Benz wheels sitting in the service drive for years. They haven't had any luck selling them and the tires on them are practically new. They are pretty much going to give them to me so I was just curious if by chance I could make them work. The tire size is 235/45/17, the offset looks similar to stock P5 wheels. My first question is, would the tires be too wide? Second thing, the bolt pattern is slightly off, I know, but if the holes were to be drilled out a bit, would it affect much? I have done a little investigating but haven't come up with much. Thanks for your help.

5 things you have to consider: Lug pattern, offset, backspacing, wheels width, and hub bore size.

If the lug pattern is wrong, (5x100 vs 5x114.3) they won't fit. If the offset is too low (needs to be at least +45 to avoid fender rubbing), they won't fit. If they're too wide (8" is probably max), they won't fit. If the hub bore is too small, you'll have balance problems.

In other words, it's very likely one of these factors will cause a problem and the wheels wont fit.

they will not work. too wide for the wheel wells, wrong offset, wrong lug pattern, wrong centerbore. You could never make them functional on a P5. Sorry.

Eh, oh well. It was worth a shot. Looks like I'll just put them up on CL. Thanks guys.
